The Joint Housing Workshop begins at 8:00 a.m. and is your opportunity to access several housing funding agencies in one location! Participating agencies include the Montana Department of Commerce's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) Programs, and Montana Board of Housing (MBOH) and USDA Rural Development Housing Programs. In addition, there will be information on and discussion about the NEW Neighborhood Stabilization Act (HR 3221), signed by President Bush on July 30, 2008. HR 3221 will make federal funds available to the state and units of general local government to redevelop abandoned and foreclosed upon homes and residential properties and to demolish vacant, blighted structures. Beginning at noon, the public meeting is open to everyone to discuss community needs and to review Montana's Consolidated Plan (CP) Annual Action Plan. The CP, a tool used to identify needs and allocate resources to Montana communities and residents, is developed with information from interested citizens, especially low- and moderate-income citizens; local government officials; statewide and regional institutions and other organizations including businesses, developers, and community and faith-based organizations; and public and private agencies that provide assisted housing, health services, and social services. The Annual Action Plan serves as the state's annual application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Montana's Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships, and Emergency Shelter Grant programs. Combined, these grant programs receive- approximately $1-1 $12 million annually from HUD. Each year, these funds are then invested in Montana communities for decent, safe, and affordable housing; public facilities and other infrastructure; and economic opportunities for lower-income families. The draft 2008 Annual Action Plan will be available for review by October 10, 2008 on the Consolidated Plan website: housing.mt.gov/Hous_CPTApps.asp. If you are unable to access the website, you can request printed copies of CP documents by calling 406-841-2820 or TDD: 406-841-2702. Written comments on the Annual Action Plan will be accepted through December 31, 2008. Submit your comments to Leslie Edgcomb, CP Coordinator, Housing Division; P.O. Box 200545; Helena, MT 59620. We hope to see you on October 16 in Billings. Sincerely, Leslie Edgcomb Consolidated Plan Coordinator 1&0 1- Housing Application Workshop and Consolidated Plan Meeting 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tentative Agenda 8:00 8:30 8:45 9:45 10:30 10:15 Registration (coffee & treats available) Welcome & Introductions USDA RD Housing Programs CDBG Program Break NEW Neighborhood Stabilization Act (HR 3221) Break / Set up for lunch Consolidated Plan Public Meeting (lunch provided) HOME Program Proposed Changes Break HOME Program MBOH Low Income Housing Tax Credits MDOC/MBOH Program Updates MTHousingSearch. com ¦ Technical Assistance ¦ "White Paper' ¦ Section 8 Housing Assistance Program Online Application - 8:30 - 8:45 - 9:45 - 10:30 - 10:45 - 11:45 11:45 - 12:00 12:00 - 1:15 1:15 - - 1:45 1:45 - 2:00 2:00 - 2:30 2:30 - 3:00 3:00 - 4:30 Advance registration is not required but registering will help with planning for space, materials and food.
