Board Meeting Minutes
Sept 25th , 2008 -Owl Cafe'
"Buildin abetter communit and economic rowth throu h communication and business relations"
Meeting was held on Sept 25th, 2008 at the Owl. In attendance were: President Jared Kaiser,
Co-Vice President Becky Dickerson and Exec, Secretary Joanne Flynn; Directors: Steve Diefenderter, Linda
Frickel, Nancy Metzger, Kammy Thurman and Rene' Studiner.
Jared called the meeting to order and held a moment of silence. The minutes from the Sept. 11th meeting
were presented for approval. Rene' made a motion to approve, seconded by Kammy, All approved.
The financial report was given with the online balances. Linda made a motion to approve seconded by Linda,
all approved.
Jared then went over the bills and asked for approval. Kammy, made a motion to pay the bills as stated,
seconded by Linda. All approved.
Joanne introduced to all the new "Magic Jack" which she had purchased in hopes that if it works well that she
can be reimbursed for it. The device plugs into the computer and gives you an additional phone line. Cost is
$39.00 + shipping and the service is only $50.00 for five years which includes long distance anywhere in the
US and Canada. Joanne offered to get back to everyone with the results before asking for reinbursment.
Old Business
M~^~ 4 B~Ilinas -Care®r Services -The board had previously approve a go-ahead for this however, no
hourly amount to offer was decided on. Linda made a motion to approve the $10.00 per hour pay which
was seconded by Kammy, All agreed since there is so little difference in the total payout between the
$8.00 and $10.00 per hour amounts.
Laurel Br ure -- Joanne stated that it would be nice to have a couple mare volunteers on the Brochure
committee to help make the layout decisions. Nancy offered to help as well as Becky and Linda. Kammy is
trying to get a better font for the street names and there may be a small change (inlarged) in the size of a
few of the ads.
Mem ershin Drive -Don was not available, so Joanne passed a copy of the letter that is going out to
members for the "E-Blast" "Chamber Choice" Featured Business of the Week". She is working on getting
email addresses for the non-members and will then get them into a folder. Kammy suggested again that we
get this into the Outlook with no sponsors listed as a news event.
Farmers Market Joanne reported that the farmers market is ended and that it brought in $850.00 (the final
results is $941.00. She also stated that Barb is no longer going to manage the market and that we need to
find someone else to so that. Barb has a couple of suggestions for us. Linda made a motion to pay Barb
$100 for her help with the market seconded by Kammy.
New Business -
Annual Meetin Commi ee: Barb, Kammy, Ga Hodde Linda, B_ ecky The committee met on Sept
15th and propose the following to the board: Dinner will be held at the Owl Cafe' on Oct. 17th -Happy Mour
From 5PM to 7PM -Choice of Meals will be 8oz Steak or Salmon Dinner -price will be $22.00 per person,
There will also be games, prizes and surprises. Barb stated that her daughter may be willing to sing 2 or 3
songs for the entertainment. The board approved the plans as stated. The committee will meet again in a
week or so to finalize the plans,

O n Forum
Laurel Alive Linda reported to the board the first project of the Laurel Alive Board is to have a mural painted
on the side of Jody Crowl's building. She also stated that the next project is a "Welcome to Laurel Sign" that
is also in the works.
