Bruce Teeters brought the meeting to. order at 6:00 p.m. by
asking that the interested applicants for the Ambulance Service
give their reasons and qualifications for applying. The
applicants in attendance were Debbie Drake, Judy Hatton, Ruth
Dvorak, Linda Koch and Dan Koch. Bruce informed them that they
would be informed within one week if they were selected. The
applicants then left the meeting.' In reviewing the applications
two of the applicants were qualified to begin immediately while
the other 3 would have to take an advanced first aid class to
qualify.
Motion by Ron Marshall, seconded by Jack Galusha, that all
of the applicants be hired pending approval by the Mayor and
City Council. Also all applicants must be fully qualified.
Motion carried 3-1 with Bruce Teeters dissenting because one of
the applicants lives in Billings and would only be in Laurel
while on call.
Alan Crowe spoke to the Committee regarding the nomination of
Cheryl Marshall to Ambulance Director. He stated that he had
reservations on doing so due to a similiar past situation that
created a problem with dispatch. It was the consensus of the
Committee not to take action at this time and that any matters
concerning ambulance dispatch be conducted between Tom Eastman,
Alan Crowe and Bruce Teeters. It was also the consensus that
the nomination of Cheryl Marshall be put on hold with action to
be taken at a later date.
Tom Eastman was directed to contact Bob Gauthier, and with his
approval, take the necessary steps to get all of the applicants
qualified for services. It was mentioned that Ruth Dvorak, who is
a qualified advanced first aid instructor might be able to instruct
the applicants who are not qualified.
Bruce Teeters was directed to contact the Volunteer Fire
Department to see if any of their membership is interested.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
Resi~ectfully submitted,
Bruce Teeters, Chairman
