Clean-up: will cover a three block area
around the dance site.
Music: Sweetbriar
Time: 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Serving of beer
will Stop at 1 a.m. No one under 21 admitted. (Enforced by
Jaycees). Laurel Pelice Reserve officers will be in the
area and will respend to any problems'inside the dance
area. Fop and non alcoholic beer will also be served.
Porta Potties: 9 porta potties will be
moved from the dance site to Thompson Park at 11 a.m.
Additional solution will be available. Five potties will be
placed along the south fence Iine of the Little League
Field and four will be placed on the west fence line of the
north Little League Field. Potties will be emptied by Bob
Frank prior to the moving. Herb Mobs has been hired for
that day to make sure bathrooms have an adequate supply of
toilet tissue available, and for general clean-up of the
Garbage cans Needed: 8 cans are needed at
the dance area and 1 at Fifth Avenue Yogurt. 5 cans are
needed at the Breakfast in Firemen's Park:
There will posssibly be a generator set
up for better lighting ~¥ the dance area. A $1 fee charged
for admission to the dance will be given on a 50%-50% basis
to the Laurel HebstYest and a Memorial Fund for D.
J.McGillen.
Breakfast: Will start cooking at 3 a.m. Serving begins at 6
a.m. until 11 a.m. in Fireman's Park. The menu will be
sausage, pancakes, coffee and milk. The estimated price is
$5.00 for adults; $2.00 for children. The price may change
if costs are high.
Kiddies Parade: starts at 11 a.m. in front of St Anthony's
Catholic Church on Third Ave. and will go through the
parking lot at the the Care Center, on to Third Ave to
Ninth St. East on Ninth St. to First Ave., south on First
Ave to the Old North School Lot where it will end. Reserves
will help with traffac control.
The 4th of July Parade: will start at 11 a.m. at the Laurel
Co-op and will go west on Main St. to First Ave., north on
First Ave. to Seventh St., west on Seventh St. to Third
Ave. north on Third Ave to Ninth St. East on Ninth St. to
First Ave. and disband in the high school parking lot.
Parade theme: "For Those Who Served." Police reserves to
direct traffic. Street barricades needed?
Barbecue: The LVFD will set up the barbecue Wednesday
evening. The barbecue will be placed near the Little League
ballfield near the shelter. A Coke truck will be placed in
the park near the barbecue (will need electricity) and a
tent will be set up near the~barbecue site. The fire
department is aware of the rule to keep vehicles out of the
park and will keep that number to a minimum although it is
understood vehicles are needed to get the equipment in
place, etc. A committee is working to establish needed
loading zones on both Sixth St. and Eighth St.
The barbecue lunch willl include a barbecued beef sandwich,
coleslaw, baked beans and pickle. Price?

The LVFD auxiliary will sell pop~ iced tea, carameled
apples and possible poPcorn balls.
The fire department will be going door to door in the
resi'dential distriot June 17, 18, 19 and 20 selling
tickets for the fireworks. The fireworks display will be
held at dark on the Fourth of July and prizes will be
awarded from dusk to dark prior to the fireworks.
Fire trucks and the ambulance will be parked in the parking
area off Eighth St. Eighth St. from First Ave. to the
alley east of the high school will be blocked off to
r~.~l!ular traffic. No parking will be allowed on First Ave~ue
from Sixth St. to Eighth St. (both sides of the street) and
on the east side of First Avenue. from Eighth to Ninth St.
Barricades or no parking signs will be needed in this area.
~]~o no parking is recommended in the gravel, area west of
A~hietic Field just o~..Fi.rst ~ve. This area will be used
f~)r bus par~king, etc. and no parking is requested also for
safety reasons. ~,
The Pioneer Kiwanis Club will sell cotton candy. One
machine will be used during the da~ arid two at night. They
will be located near the power source at the South Little
League field.
The Laurel Lions Club will sell German sausage sandwiches
after 2:30 P.M. They will use barbecuers and will be
located near the shelter area.
The Girls Softball team~ coached by Cindy Chapple, will
~!~ponsor the dunking booth. It will be situated near the
tennis courts and the little bathhouse in Thomson Park.
The
tub will be filled by the Fire Department at 9:30 a.m.
Thursday, the 4th.
Kids Fun Day, sponsored by the Laurel Chamber of Commerce,
will start at 2 p.m. and will be held at the east end of
Thomson Park between the shelter and the Fred Graff School.
There will be 5 age groups and games will include a fish
pond~ sac~ race~ orange race~ marshmallow toss, spoon race
and three legged race. Daytime fireworks are being planned
for this by Darrell Mc Gillen. The participants will
receive a cold treat and the games will be over about 4 p.m.
A game area will be in the tree area in Thomson F'ark. There
will be a dime toss, Evergreen Rebekah Lodge; a bottle
toss, Laurel Democrats; two games sponsored by the CCW of
St. Anthony's Catholic Church--an explanation of the games
is attached. A wheel of fortune game(a prize received each
time) and balloons will be sponsored by the Christmas to
Remember; and ice cream will be sold during the day and
evening by the Christmas to Remember and the Laurel
Herbstfest (joint effort).
At 7:30 p.m. in Athlletic Field, a patriotic program,"For
Those Who Served" will be presented by the Eugene Sara
Detachment of the Marine Corp Leagud. A sheet is attached
to this report explaining the program. Permission is
requested for a firing squad salute.
The KGHL Boo~ Box will be in the area. During the day it
will be parked on East Sixth near the shelter. At night, we
would like to have it moved into Athletic Field. This
portion of the program is not fully finalized but will be
by the June 18 council meeeting.
It was mention that something should be done to alleviate
people parking their cars in the middle of the street and
leaving them there while they go watch the fireworks.
Although this is not resolved, we are hopeful something can
be done.
The committee voted 5-2 to allow the Laurel Women in
Business to sell balloons on the parade route and in.the
park area. Bob Graham moved, Judy Ludwig seconded that we
allow the group to sell balloons. Motion carried 5-2. (The
deadline for requesting participation in the Fourth of July
was May 4.)

1. Set up 2 "Carnival" Games
Ao"Plinko"
A game fashioned after the ~ame on Price Is Right
TV Show. Free Standing, 6" tall. Player stands on step
stool behind game and releases a.disk at the top. Disk
travels down between nails and ends in a spot at bottom,
which determines what--if any--prize is won. Out of 7
spots, 6 are winning spots.
B. Tennis ~all Roll
A table top game where a tennis ball is rolled down
a ramp on to the playing field where holes are cut. I~ ball
lands in a hole~ a prize is

prizes.
We do not need electricity. Ail proceeds ~rom the games
go to St. Anthony's Council of Catholic Women.

Eugene Sara Detachment, Marine Corp League
"For Those Who Served", a Patriotic Program to be presented
at 7:50 p.m. in Athletic Field in Thomson Park. The
program will be about one hour plus long and will include
patriotic readings, music~ presentation of the ~olors by
the Marine Corp League, and a flag presentation to the city
from the Sjerde Family. Tape will be played and a firing
squad will present a gun salute. Permission is requested to
hav~ the gun salute.
Servicemen and women from all branches of the service ~ill
be introduced,as a group~ and recognized.
