Handicapped parking area should be marked.
Ihs emergency route(closed street--Sth St.) should be
better publicized and the reserve should be informed lust
exactly who is allowed into the street.
Parade entries completely blocked Main Street east of
Alder' Ave. Parade entries should be lined up on the side
streets off Alder and all the way up Alder is need be. A
map of lust where the numbered entries should be parked
should be posted at the Coop.
~The t~me for the Kiddies F'arade was changed without
notl~:ying the committee and was printed on the 10,000
fliers wr*ich went out. ThereTore about half of the
advertising had 10:30 a.m. and the rest of the advertising
had 11:00 a.m. A lot of people arrived ~oo late to see the
F:iidd~e Parade. Besides it started even before 10:30 a.m.
F'orta F'ott~es: Next year more people will be needed to
move them to Thomson Park. Bob Frank should be contacted
to empty the potties and also add new solution before they
ere moved. The Jaycees and Firemen are too busy at that
t;me ~n the morning to add the extra solution, etc. Th~.s
year there were 8 porte potties moved from the Jaycee dance
area to ]homson Park. The location was good ~'or the potties
in Thomson Park if trucks had not parked in front of them
partially hiding them from view.
The cost for moving the 8 porta potties was $75.00.
Need more garbage cans zn the break~ast serving are.
and the electricity available was not adequate; but the
firemen are planning to put additional w~ring in the park
to accomodate their Christmas display and it will be
avallabl~ for the Jaycee's use during the breakfast.
A poster should be made and posted in Thomson Park
telling what is available in the park for people to enjoy.
Yhe pa{riotic program was well received and next year
chairs should be placed
space for spectators.to
in the ball field area to allow
sit.
The street Oance went
~n through admls~s~ons and
Herbstfest and the Laurel
Display.
wel. i. A total of $1200 was taker~
shared between the Laurel
Volunteer Fzremen)s F~reworks
We had good comments on the day.~ there were some
problems--all could be worked out Zf there was more
communication. Some resentment was felt by the committee.
One woman commen~l'ed that "This 4th of July Committee ~s a
lo~ of bunk~ we worked all these years w~thout a committee
like th~s." But otJ]~rs sa~d the day went much smoother
One committee member suggested that the comm:~ttee
lust prior to the 4th and t~e up all loose ends.
Another suggestion was to have a colored sticker to
placed on the wsnd shields of buses~ etc. that have
permission to park ~n the desg~nated parking area
(handicapped, buses~ etc.) and those are the only vehicles
that w~ll be allowed to park there.
All in all the committee did a fine job. Committee
