Re: Possible Mayoral Vacancy
Dear Council,
|have been asked by several residents and business owners many of which voted for me in the
November 2017 general Mayoral election to ask to be considered for the position of Mayor of the City of
Laurel should a vacancy appear. I would like to formally ask that the council consider me if they need to
nominate and elect someone to fill the position of City Mayor for a term to end 12/31/2019. 1 comply
with all of the required qualifications for the position. My experience is attached.

PROFESSIONAL WORK HISTORY
Territory Sales Manager
I am employed with Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation. This is the largest manufacturer of metal roofing and siding in the
United Stated with 21 manufacturing branches throughout the United States.
Responsibility
I am responsible for a sales budget of 6 million dollars. I am charged with managing, maintaining and growing those sales in my
territory. I am a self-starter and I work largely unmanaged out of my home office and traveling throughout most of Montana and a
small part of Wyoming. I read and understand blueprints and perform material takeoffs from the same. Read and understand
contracts. I make decisions, daily, that can have a positive or negative effect on that 6 -million -dollar budget I am responsible for
maintaining and growing. I heavily rely on my sales, marketing and negotiating skills. I maintain a very good working relationship
with my customers and the office and production staff I work with and rely upon in the ordering and delivery process.
Municipal Leadership Qualifications:
• Served six years on the Laurel City Council and 4 years as Council Vice President
• Served on five committees and as chair and co-chair of several
• Understand the strengths and weaknesses in the city and have solutions to strengthen the city
• Know Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and have strong computer and technological skills
• Have a firm understanding of budgeting and setting and achieving goals.
• Can effectively manage and motivate employees and help them to be successful in their goals
Other Skills:
• Six years of networking with other mayors and council members on challenges and solutions found in other Montana cities
o Capable of managing and organizing the city so it has the resources needed to provide the services for which it is
responsible
• Excellent communication skills necessary to work with city department heads and engineers and contractors involved in
city projects
