In attendance were Justin Baker, Fran Schweigert, Nathan Herman, Brandon Cobey,Geralyn Stevens,Jason Shovar and Keith Kolstad. Absent were any Department Heads due to excused reasons. Jason Shovar was able to confirm that that confined space rescue and air monitoring class scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday,June 14 and 15,was still a go. Keith stated that he would confer with the Department Heads the personnel to go each day and they would be notied of the day to attend. This will be a combination training session with the fire department and the public works department on training with the rescue equipment for confined spaces and on air monitoring. Keith explained that documentation on the training of new employees in the use of equipment, such as forklifts, landscape tools, etc. must be kept and turned into the supervisor for filing. Keith went through the review of the Safety Audits and had already visited with the Shop to see what the concerns were but had not been to the two plants or the library. Keith did share that he was working on the exit route plans for the shop and library and that the others would need them also showing the exits and location of extinguishers. lason in his talks with Brent Peters did mention that the classes for first aid/CPR are not yet confirmed and still in the process of being set up. Due to the lack of a representative from the police department and the excused absence of the Chief there was no further information on the Active Shooter exercise. Kurt Markegard previously had mention that he intended to provide internet service to the shops and that online safety programs for the two plants and the shops could be done by those employees and tracked when they had completed such courses. Only the shops appeared to be aware that such a program for online classes was in the works. The shops do not have an internet connection at this time. A copy of the draft safety manual based on the MMIA format was handed out and asked for suggestions. Fran asked if employees had to sign for the manual but Keith said that since workplace safety was a requirement of the personnel manual, for which all employees were to sign for, then individual signatures would not be necessary for the safety plan as each employee was aware that they and the city had responsibilities for safety(Note added per Keith to summary: on page 6 of new personne/manual it does state that all employees are required to comply wiYh safety standardsJ. Keith noted that we could either use this new Safety format along with individual informational pamphlets on such items as forklifts, PPE and others or continue to use the existing safety plan with ; revisions. The intent of the new Safety format is to put the materials into each building in a file holder with the I safety plan in one wall file, the pamphlets in another and the documentation of training for the supervisor to pick up in the third file. Brandon brought up the fact that the monitors at the waste water plant were showing high levels of LEL in one ', area. He advocated that individual monitoring units that attach to each person would be useful in protecting the employee should the in-house monitors actually be denoting an environment condition that would prevent employees from entering. Brandon also asked if a loop pole could be put in place for the clarifier ponds. The meeting adjourned at 2:10 pm.
