HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaurel Chamber of Commerce Minutes 11.9.2017 Laurel Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting Minutes The Meeting was held on November 9, 2017 at Chamber Log Cabin. In attendance were: Executive Board Members: President- President- Mary Lou Batalden,Vice President- Cindy Drake, Treasurer- Sandy Reese and executive secretary- Marcia Hafner and Chamber Assistant Camilla Nelson. Directors: Carrie Smith, Billie Lehman, Katie Whitmoyer, Bruce Larson, Monica Rodenberger, and Renee Studiner, Members: Ken Gomer, Evan Bruce, Beth Hoferer, Chase Anderson, and Chris Grant Mary Lou called the meeting to order. The minutes were approved: Monica, Carrie 2"a Bills to be presented for payment: Bills were approved Carnival (ad &refund Cami) $69.49 Old BUSINESS ■ USA Communications- Finally ported over. We are currently using our old router. USA Communications would rent us an up-to-date one for an extra $10/month. Buy a new at WalMart for $80?It was moved to approve a new router. Bill shows month of Oct. and Nov. but not the refund from Century Link, $99.04. ■ Halloween Carnival=Cami reported on the carnival. Kids really enjoyed it and had a good turnout for the first year. Cami asked to let us know suggestions to make it better next year. Carrie suggested having the kids decorate the hallways in groups or grades. Next year Halloween falls on a Wednesday so gives us more time to set up. ■ Christmas Brackets-_Mark will have them done, already did the ones on S 1�. New BUSINESS • New Members- Midway Auto Sales,Chiropractic First Laurel,The Fort at Rockvale • Nominations for new board members-We will vote next month o Billie Lehman- Montana Infrared Services o Chase Anderson- UPS Store o Evan Bruce- Laurel Outlook o Noel Eaton- Laurel City o Beth Hoferer-The Crossings o Ken Gomer- LARC o Colt Van Derwerker- Cellular Plus/Verizon o Patsy Woody-Ace Hardware • Shop Local Idea- Cami presented an idea to get people shopping local. It was approved to do baskets for the prizes. Shoppers can tum their tickets into the Chamber for a chance to win. $50 chamber business=l ticket, $100 non chamber business=l ticket. • Volunteer for Nov 26- Putting up omaments- the sheet was passed around for people to sign up. Meet at 8am at the Laurel Golf Course. • Christmas to Remember- It was approved that we would do a Christmas decorating contest for the businesses. It was approved to give the winner tickets to the annual meeting if they are a member and if they are not to do a gift basket. Cami suggested we do hot cocoa during the Christmas parade. It was approved to have a $100 budget for this. Carrie, Renee 2"�. Cindy said they would donate porta potties for that night. Cami will also be doing a map of Christmas decorations so let her know if you see any houses that should go on it! • December Open House Dec 21?- Home w/Hardin G&B- agreed to move to Thursday 14"' • A donation for the Annual Meeting- January 17, 2018 is when the annual meeting will be. Start thinking about donations. It was approved to change the price of the tickets from $25 to $30. Carrie, Monica 2"�. It was brought up to be thinking about what to do with the profits from the Annual Meeting. • Lion's Club- It was approved to pay to be on the sign the Lion's Club does for Christmas OPEN FORUM • LARC- Yellowstone Valley Sports study is going on. Focus group from Victus group will be here next Wednesday 8:OOam. They hope to have the results in January.
