AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, TO REPEAL CHAPTER 15.50 OF
THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE AND TO REPLACE IT WITH NEW CHAPTER 15.50
THAT PROVIDES FOR THE CITY'S ADOPTION OF THE 2006 EDITION OF THE
INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE AND CERTAIN AMENDMENTS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA,
Chapter 15.50 of the Laurel Municipal Code is hereby repealed and replaced as follows:

15.50.010 Adoption.
The International Fire Code 2006 edition includin A endices B and C as ublished b the

15.50.030 Modifications to, International Fire Code, 2006 edition.
The Cit of Laurel hereb ado is the followin revisions to the International Fire Code manual as
follows:
Section 101.1. Insert Cit of Laure Montana
Section 109.3. shall read:
Violations enalties. Persons who shall violate a ravision of the code or shall fail to com 1

violation of the a roved construction documents or directive of the fire code official or of a
ermit or certificate used under rovisions of this code shall be ilt of a misdemeanor

both such fine and im risonment. Each da that a violation continues a$er due notice has
been served shall be deemed a s crate offense.
Section 111.4 Insert: not less than 100.00 or more than 500.00
Section 906.1. Delete Exception to Section 906.1, #1.
Section 906.1 shall read:
906.1. Where reauired.
Portable fire extinguishers shall be installed in the followine locations.
1. In new and existin Grou B E F H I M R-1 R-2 R-4 and S occu ancies.
2. Within 30 feet 9144 mm of commercial cookin ui ment.
3. In areas where flammable or combustible 1i aids are stored used ar dis ensed.
4. On each floor of structures under construction exc t Grou R-3 occu ancies in
accordance with Section 1415.1.

Section 907.15.1. When r aired b the Fire Cade Official non-r aired fire alarms sterns

008-07 International Fire Code
The Cit of Laurel hereb establishes the follawin eo a hic limits are referred to in the 2006
International Fire Code as follows:
Sectian 3204.3.1.1. Locatian. Statio containers shall be located in accordance with
section 3206.6. Containers of o epic fluids shall not be located within diked areas
containin other hazazdous materials.

established, by the City_of Laurel.

established b the Cit of Laurel.

of Laurel.
This Ordinance becomes effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City Council and
approval by the Mayor.

June 3 , 2008, by Council Member Wilkins
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second reading this 15th day of
