Larry discussed the cost of providing underground electricity to the area that would be used by vendors. Last
year the question was raised about having more power available. Larry stated that Ace Hardware would do this
for under $3000. It was decided to further this request to the park board.
Chief Rick Musson commented on the issue of permits for vehicle use in the park. Last year some abuse was
noted and the question of what criteria would be used to allow vehicles in the park. The chief would like to see
a policy with permit use implemented. He was asked to submit some ideas at the next meeting.
Handicapped parking was discussed. The committee would like to see the area of parking just to the east of the
high school used as handicapped parking. Barry Linn was asked to see ifa school-sponsored group would like
to take this project on. He agreed to talk to some groups and get back to the committee.
The idea of a group responsible for clean-up with the income from the non-profit permit used to support this.
Chris Western was appointed to look into the Boy Scouts as a possible service group. Also discussed was
alternating responsibilities among different groups. Chris is going to meet with the Boy Scouts and report back.
The issue of permits was brought up-Larry is going to look into the issue and report back. Some of the things
brought up were color of permit tickets, placement of permits, information and guidelines on permits. Lan'y
also brought up marking areas for vendors: Ken reported he is working on a large map of area that could be of
help.
Because of the tornado warning last year, the idea of an evacuation and emergency plan was brought up. It was
decided to put a plan together. Because of school proximity, it was decided to get the school involved. Ken
stated that he could talk to some of the school people and bring back some information at the next meeting.
Debbie Ricci reported on Chamber involvement. The idea of an information booth was brought up and Debbie
will look at ways to stafflt. ChiefMusson asked the Chamber and the Jaycees to get the parade request in.
Chris Western reported that the Jaycees would be providing the pancake breakfast and street dance. Some
discussion on using the Chamber trailer after the street dance for entertainment in the park the next day. Barry
Lima reported some individuals may be interested in performing on the 4th. He will get back to the committee
on that.
Gary Thomas stated that the Little League will be involved this year, as in the past. Miles stated that if we
could get music into the parade that would be a plus.
The matter of reservations in the park on the 4t~ was brought up. The group felt it would be a good idea to find
out the legal position on the issue before discussing this further. Ken stated he would talk to Joe about this.
Ken stated he would talk to the retired firemen to see if they plan on putting on the BBQ.
Nothing else came before the committee. The date of February 24 at 4:30 was decided for the next meeting.
