HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board Minutes 06.06.2017 Minutes of the Laurel Public Library Board of Trustees June 6, 2017 Attending Rose Marie Kline Dixie Feller Bill Hanson Arthur Vogele Nancy Schmidt Minutes Dixie motioned that the minutes for May 2017 be accepted as read. Arthur seconded the motion. Motion passed. Correspondence Library received a$500 donation from Driving-Tests.org for putting a weblink to their site on our website. It has practice written exams for both trainees and those that have been driving for a while. Circulation Report—compared to same time period last year... Traffic: up 22.46%; circulation: all items circulated totaled 3,903 (including 428 eBooks), book circulation was up 30.76%, media circulation was up 33.3%, eBook checkouts for this month was 12.8%of total book circulation; computers: internet use was up 17%, children's use was down 95%,wi-fi use up 48.98%;patron cards: unavailable at this time. There were 26 tech assists in May. Old Business The per capita funding provided by the State Library may not be available this year.Nancy will attend the Federation Coordinator's and Montana State Commissioner's meeting in Helena on June 13th& 14th. More information should be available in the next couple weeks that can be shared at the next Board meeting.Nancy will be attending these meetings as the Federation Coordinator for South Central Federation. Nancy attended a Financial Literacy training in Miles City sponsored by MSU Extension Agency. It was very informational for staff as well as the public. There are numerous resources available to our patrons through the Extension Agency and the library to help them with any financial difficulties they may be experiencing. We have posters and flyers available for those that want to explore this information on their own. The Summer Reading Program is off to a great start. The program runs June 1St through July 31St with reading records being received until August 5th. We will be giving away Kindle eReaders as our top prizes in each age category. We are also holding a drawing for a family membership to Zoo Montana for those that attend the weekly craft/story sessions. New Business The Plan Of Service for South Central Federation needed signatures from the Federation Coordinator, Library Board Chair and the Federation Chair.Nancy and Rose Marie signed the form and Deb Richards will stop by to sign it next week so it can be sent to Helena as required. Library standards are due to Helena by July 24th. After the Board Chair and Director sign the form Nancy will take it with her to the meetings next week. Standards are required by the Montana State Library as part of our compliance for state funding. Rose Marie has decided to resign her position on the Board. Dixie and Arthur have recommended a coworker to replace Rose Marie. A letter of interest is needed for approval from the Board and appointment by the Mayor. Other Nancy will be on vacation June 20-24, 2017 to use up her personal time. The Eagle Scout project has not progressed much in the last month. Board members asked that the Boy Scout member be contacted and asked if he was going to finish the project.Nancy will give a report at the next meeting.
