ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION
APRIL 25, 2008
RUSSELL PARK
The Arbor Day Observance sponsored by the Tree Board was held in Russell Park on April
25*. Gay Easton welcomed the group that attended, which included all the children from the
South School, their teachers, the mayor, representatives from the DNRC and a State Forester, as
well as interested citizens and the Tree Board.
Mayor Olson welcomed all, with especial greeetings to the school children and their teachers.
The children then entertained all by reciting a tribute to trees in unison.
Mr. JeffBollman from the DNRC presented a plaque and other insignia to the City
proclaiming it a Tree City.
The children then planted a row of French lilacs on the Cedar Stre~ edge of the park, and the
city crew finished by planting a Patmore Ash (seedless ash) on the south to replace a broken one.
