RIVERSIDE PARK The Laurel City Council attended a tour of the buildings in Riverside Park on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 5:45 p.m. COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: _x Emelie Eaton _x Doug Poehls x Bruce McGee x Richard Herr x Chuck Dickerson Scot Stokes x Tom Nelson x Bill Mountsier OTHERS PRESENT: Heidi Jensen, CAO Noel Eaton, City Planner Numerous members of the public Heidi Jensen unlocked the door to the Laurel Rifle Club to allow the council members and the public the opportunity to see the inside of the building. Heidi briefly spoke regarding the lead issue in the building, which is the reason the Mayor closed the building. Mayor Mace read the statistics from the lead testing in the building. The Laurel Rod and Gun Club was the next building opened on the tour. The building cannot be used because of the mold issues. No FEMA funding is available because the building is located in the floodplain. Heidi unlocked the caretaker's house for those that wanted to see the inside. The building is full of toxic mold. Participants toured the American Legion building next. The American Legion Club has moved to the Laurel Senior Center. Heidi mentioned that the roof needs to be replaced on the Jaycee Hall before there are problems. The roof replacement is in the 2017-2018 Budget.
