Minutes
Bill motioned that the minutes for February 2017 be accepted as read and corrected. Clair
seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Correspondence
None
Circulation Report—compared to same time period last year...
Traffic: down 22.8%; circulation: all items circulated totaled 3,361 (including 341 eBooks),book
circulation was up 4.5%,media circulation was down 5.1%, eBook checkouts for this month was
11.8%of total book circulation; computers: internet use was down 7.5%,children's use was
down 33%,wi-fi use up 34.9%; patron cards: city patrons accounted for 68.7%of registered card
holders at this time,county patrons represented 28.2%of registered patrons and out-of-county
patrons were 3.1%of users. There were 42 tech assists in February. There was some discussion
about comparing the circ report to the month previous as well as the year before.
Old Business
Jo Kramer was scheduled to meet with the Board concerning the restart of the Friends of the
Library group. She was unable to attend.
451 items circulated through the Partners that may not have circulated otherwise. Patti is adding
the Partners information to our website to help increase awareness and use of the loaning
capabilities.
Clair, Dixie, Arthur and Nancy will be attending the South Central Federation meeting in Big
Timber. The meeting is scheduled for 10:00 am—3:00 pm but may end earlier if all business is
conducted quickly.
The CIP Budget meeting was held on Friday,February 17`h at City Hall.Nancy had requested
new shelving and replacement of the library soffit and fascia. Department Heads voted on all
items proposed by those attending. The new shelving request was removed by Nancy until next
year pending new quotes. The soffit and fascia will be scheduled for replacement in FYI 7/18.
Codell McNiven is working on his Eagle Scout project at the library. He will be planting all 6
flower boxes and gardens this year. He and his troop will also be working weed control and lawn
maintenance for the library until the project is completed. With the help of local garden clubs
and the extension agency, Codell will find flowers and plants that are native to Montana.
New Business
The Laurel Federated Women's Club will present its annual Easter Play and Egg Hunt at 1:00 pm
on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the library. If the weather is rainy or snowy the egg hunt will
be held inside again.
Other
Patti will be attending some online website training through the American Library Association
rather than attending MLA in Billings. Mike will be attending MLA in Billings on Wednesday
9:00 am to 3:00 pm. He will receive lunch while there. Nancy will attend MLA all three days,
March 28th, 29th,and 30th.
The Montana Shared Catalog and Partners meetings are being held in Helena May P and 4th.
There is training scheduled for all day on the 4th.

Dixie motioned the Board meeting be adjourned,Arthur seconded the motion. Motion
passed, meeting adjourned at 7:01 pm.
