Joe Leckie Andy Loebe Jim Stevens Jim Flisrand Don Hackmann Cal Cumin Jim Flisrand gave a presentation regarding the Federal Aid Urban System. Resolution No. 2320 amended the priorities on December 1, 1987. He gave an overview of the list established at that time. Discussion regarding 8th Avenue including sidewalks on the west side. After further discussion about other streets around the city it was suggested that Jim prepare a priority list to be reviewed by the Street and Alley Committee for a recommendation to the city council. The State Highway Department requires approval from both the city and county before proceeding with a project. Once this is done then the state will be asked to start the design phase. Projected starting date for construction could be the summer of 1998. Jim mentioned that the money has to be spent on arterials or collectors and not on any secondary roads. Bud asked when the Martin property is supposed to be cleaned up, Joe said "July 31st", Gay reported that the caretaker at Riverside Park was responsible for some of the sandbagging during the recent flooding. If it wasn't for his efforts we would have lost Riverside Park. Gay suggested that a letter be sent to him. The mayor said that Carl did an excellent job. Bill Staudinger reported weeds in areas around town that should be cut. Jim explained the weed letter procedure that the city uses. It was reported that a residence north of the school looks like a junk yard. Andy mentioned that 10 trees were trimmed and two..were removed in Thomson Park, Right-of-ways are being mowed, Street sweeping and patching is being done where the flood waters ran down on 12th and 13th street and 7th and 8th Avenues, Jim Stevens said that the fire department is out this week seeking donations for the fireworks. Jim Flisrand reported that the lift station in Village Subdivision has been renovated. There is a major problem with the digester at the sewer plant. The swimming pool opened June ?th. The fire department and public works pole building is up. Joe mentioned that there is a letter in correspondence to Duane Winslow regarding a petition on the water project. He reviewed the letter with the city council. Cal mentioned that he would like to see the council act on two items that are in the Planning Board minutes tonight. One is on the special review for Randy Swenson for his personal care facility. The land was annexed by the city last month. The other item is Cherry Hill Subdivision, 2nd filing,amended. There was a public hearing last night and the Planning Board recommends passing this, subject to conditions. Cal would like the council to establish a policy on how these things should be scheduled to come before the council. He would like to see that these two items not be delayed~ because they are critical projects° Chuck commented that there are about 50 more trees in the parks that need trimming. Also he has received some correspondence from the Veterans of Foreign Wars regarding the need for some cemetery land. They would like to con- struct a cemetery in Eastern Montana.
