Jim Flisrand gave a presentation regarding off-street
parking requirements. He referred to and distributed a copy
of Chapter 17.40 of the Laurel Municipal Code.
During a lengthy discussion it was mentioned that
possibly the city council should grant allowances and
variances to the code instead of the Board of Adjustment
because they have a better feel of the day to day concerns.
It was suggested that a special task force be set up to
review the parking regulations.
Bill Staudinger mentioned that there are still weeds
that need to be cut around town. He also mentioned that
there are several cars parked across from an upholstery shop
on Durland Avenue. Someone mentioned that the cars belong
to a person that is involved with demolition derbies.
Gay Easton is concerned about the Martin property that
is supposed to be cleaned up. Joe mentioned that he has
requested an extension to clean up the mess. It was
supposed to be cleaned up by July 1st. If he doesn't get it
cleaned up he will have to forfeit his $ 2,500 bond and then
continue to prosecute him for the violations.
Donna reported that due to cold weather the swim
lessons have been delayed for one week.
Gary Templ~ asked for an explanation about the
resolution regardin~ a primary election on the agenda
tonight. Joe reported that he had talked with Duane
Winslow, the Yellowstone County Election Administrator, and
he and the Secretary of State have determined that the City
of Laurel needs to hold a primary election. The race for
judge was the determining factor since there wePe five
individuals who had filed for that position.
Jim Stevens reported that the fire department made 21
runs during the month of June.
Meeting adjourned at 6:44 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Hackmann, City Clerk
