Joe Leckie Jim Stevens Alan Hovious Jim Flisrand Don Hackmann Mike Zuhoski It was mentioned that Mr. Martin's court date is September 4th at 4:00 p.m. instead of today. Discussion regarding the South Pond and the Lion's Club Project. They need some fill and rip rap. Jim said that the concrete from the sidewalk project is being hauled down there. A Ward 3 meeting is scheduled for September 10, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. in the High school Library. Bill Staudinger reported on junk vehicles and weeds at various locations around town. Discussion regarding the procedure for weed complaints. Alan reported that Connie Lind is working on notifying residents of their weed problems. Discussion regarding camp trailers parking on streets during the summer, and also people parking in front of the homeowners house, other than the resident themselves. Jim Flisrand gave a public works update. Jim Stevens reported that at their last general meeting the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department nominated Jim Ziegler as a new fireman, which brings the department up to 35 firemen. Then later on two firemen retired (Ken Olson with 22 years of service, and Don Meyers with 20 years). Alan reported on police activity within the city and by wards. They are working as best they can on the weed problem. The locks are installed at the complex. Alan mentioned that he has been invited to participate in the gangs, violence, and kids program on KULR 8 on September 29th. Item 6 on the agenda tonight (bond letter), just requires a motion and a resolution is not necessary. Don reported that the special council meeting minutes of August 25th need to be approved tonight. Joe updated the council regarding the trial procedures, etc. regarding the Martin trial on Thursday. Dirk reported on weeds in curb and gutters on the south side of town. Discussion regarding South 5th Street curb, ~utter and sidewalk. A culvert is scheduled for replacement at Woodland and 5th, possibly this fall. The Health Dept. Steering Committee is meeting on September 15th to finalize the by-laws and interlocal agreement. Dirk would like to meet with those interested sometime next week. Alan wants to meet with the Park Committee to discuss parking in the parks. The Neighborhood Watch meeting scheduled for Sept. 4th will be held at another time.
