HomeMy WebLinkAboutChamber - Minutes and Agenda Laurel Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting Minutes March 27th, 2008 - Laurel Golf Course "Buildina a better community and economic qrowth throuah communication and business relations" Meeting was held on March 27th at the Laurel Golf Course. In attendance were President .lared Kaiser, Co-Vice President Gary Hodde, E×ec. Secretary .loanne Flynn; Directors: Dean Rankin, Kammy Thurman, and Barb IVlcCleod; Members, Ward Thurman .~ared called the meeting to order and held a moment of silence. The minutes were presented for approval, Dean made a motion to approve, seconded by Barb, All approved, .loanne gave the current bank account balance and suggested that we move $5,000 to Avanta FCU savinga account, Barb made a motion to move the funds, seconded by Dean, all approved. Jared asked for approval of the bills. Kammy made a motion to approve seconded by Dean, All approved. Old Business Laurel Brochure- .loanne stated that all the ads have been sold and gave the board the financial results of the sales. Kammy brought an almost finished copy of the brochure and will get all the proofs to Joanne to send to the businesses next week. Then there will have to be an approval from Custer Country and it will be on to the printer, Membershio Drive There are no new members to report, _IuI¥ 4th Committee suooestion~ - .loanne asked the Centennial committee if they wanted the opportunity to choose a theme for this years events and they decided that it will be "The First 100 Years" all approved. PARADE Changes include: The route for the parade will be decided by the .luly 4th committee and they will be meeting sometime in the near future. Suggestions are: expanding the route to go :~ block further to Penn. Ave. & Chief Musson suggested that we go to Maryland and then to the new Middle School, Chief~ - bibs are here. (Pins need to be put on them) Craft Fair - .loanne reported she and a couple of volunteers will be going to see the gym and get an idea as to how to set it up. Registration forms are already coming in. Farmers Market _~oanne suggested we move the Market to the Firemen's Memorial Park on the corner of Ist and 4th. Lot's of parking available and still downtown. She will send a request of permission to the Park Board for approval. Signs can then be finished, Barb made a motion to move the Market seconded by Ward, Centennial Committee Update - .]oanne ask if we wanted to sell Laurel Lager on the 5th for the All Class Reunion, this will be decided later. Networkin Pro ram - April 8th at the Chamber Log Cabin - New and Exciting Program for Laurel. Main Street Ma azine - Joanne reported that the Hain Street Magazine article is about done, Waiting for more info from the editor. Laurel will be featured in the May issue. Main Street Montana Proqram this program needs to have a committee set up to look at it as it is very involved. Suggestion is to have individuals from the city, community and chamber involved, New Business Replace Barb on the board, Nominee's are: Don Smarsh, Guest speaker SuperHost Nancy Walker Joanne mentioned that we could get some imprinted Thank You Cards on line for less than a $1,00 a piece if ordering 100. Beautification Day - May 34 and 4th - looking for some pickups and trailers Chamber museum room - Glass Cases are gone, pictures are being worked on. Counter top is bought but not yet in.
