Chamber 1St Ouarter News!
Lot's going on here in Laurel The Chamber is well on its way to becoming a true Visitors
Center. We have 2 (new to us) and very nice computers that were willingly donated by Woods
Pow'r Grip. Thanks Bryan!
We are "On-Line" in the lobby for visitors to read emails and make reservations.
Many new brochures are arriving from Chambers that we will be trading our brochures with.
The Lobby is looking good too. We have a new coat rack which Laurel Furniture Outlet surprised
us with. Sure looks good in the Log Cabin. Thanks to Ken and Peggy Miller!
Chuck and Becky donated a cedar chest for storage and that too looks great in the Cabin -
Thanks Chuck and Becky! More Thanks go to Mark Cloud for moving and storing the unused
glass cases in the museum room. We now have more room to place all the great pictures we
have of Laurel. (if anyone has used picture frames, please feel free to donate them for the
pictures.)
If you have not noticed the Cabin was painted last year by Ethan Studiner as an eagle
Scout project, with Dean Rankin as a supervisor and supporter. Good Job!
The new "Laurel Brochure"/Street Map is about to go to print. We will have 3,000 of these
available to send to Chambers across Mt. as well as to be distributed to all of our businesses here
in Laurel. We are a bit overdue for this annual project, but that is due to the grant that was
written at the last moment to Custer Country. We did get the approval. The funding will take
care of 50% of both the printing and brochure holders that we will also have available to our
businesses. This is exciting! The focus of the brochure is to promote Laurel using our exit as a
"DECISION Point° to Yellowstone National Park with 2 unique entrances. Then we bring them
into the Laurel businesses.
More on promoting Laurel - We have been invited to write an article for the "Main Street
Montana Magazine that will be out sometime in May or June. That is currently being worked
on.
Mission Statement: The Chamber board voted on and adopted the following statement:

The Chamber is an active member of the Centennial Committee. This will be a extremely busy 4th
of July weekend, not only do we have the usual Parade and Run, but this year we expect many
more participants in all events. We are sponsoring an extended Craft Fair at the old middle school
gym and around the school. Other events will include exhibits, games for all ages, live buffalo,
contests, and more surprises to follow. There is an All-Class Reunion planned for the Sth, a
possible fly-over before the parade, Centennial bottled water, bottled by Water Specialties
Laurel Lager Beer, and many promotional items that you can order through Dynamic Designs
and will be available for sale by all our businesses and organizations
Volunteers Welcomel
The Centennial committee would like to have events going all day, both days in the park and around
town. We could use your help with this. If your business would like to sponsor an event, please let us
know as soon as possible so we can get you on the schedule.
Some suaaestions are: Contests, Skits/Plays, Games, or event of your choice.-
"Laurel Alive" Revitalization Program. Chamber members are a big part of this group. New
organization is in process along with many good ideas and fun fund raisers that are in the
planning stages. We have information on a program called "Main Street" and some one will be
contacting them for additional information very soon. It is important for more of our businesses
to join in the group as we need your input and expertise. It will be interesting to watch the
changes that are made to Laurel as this group continues to make progress.
Volunteers Welcome and needed!
