DPW CONFEKENCE ROOM
The Tree Board met on February 28, 2008, and welcomed new member Emelie Eaton. Mr.
Fred Bicha, Forester from the DNRC, was also present, as was Kurt Markegard He outlined
some of the projects that have to be implemented by the City before tree planting can go ahead.
Mr. Mitch Heiken, from Montana Tree Service, gave a short sales presentation of his product
for tree care.
Plans were made for this year's Arbor Day planting ceremony on April 25t~ at Russell Park. A
lilac hedge will be planted there to mark boundaries between the park and private property. Gay
Easton will contact the school for the children's participation, and other organizations will be
invited as well.
It is hoped the tree-to-tree inventory started last year by the Board can be continued.
Mr. Markegard reported that some of the budget should be used for pruning, and all agreed
that the water system at the cemetery should be taken care of first. The budget is $2.00 per capita
from the city. There is a grant orS1000 from the DNRC.
The next meeting of the tree board will be March 27* at 1:30 P.M.
