RESOLUTION NO. R08~09: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
SIGN A FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) GRANT
APPLICATION FOR IMPROVEMENTS FOR SECURITY AT THE WATER
TREATMENT PLANT.
Public Works Director Bill Sheridan presented the issue to the council. Bill stated that this grant
application is for mitigation of disaster possibilities and the improvement of security at the Water
Treatment Plant. This large federal grant is administered by FEMA and is difficult to get. The city
does not have much time to apply for it, but it is appropriate to get an application in to learn more
about the grant to pursue the possibility this year and next year. The city is allowed to apply for over
$3 million for improvements at the Water Treatment Plant. Bill stated that the grant is a one-time
grant for a ten-year period. If the city is awarded the grant, it could apply again after the ten-year
period is completed.
Council Member Eaton thanked Mr. Sheridan for bringing this grant application to the council to
allow it to be a Possibility.
