McCann Alan Hovious Steve Wcgner Bud Johnson mentioned that he had attended an advisory, meeting for thc Superintendent of' Schools. They uncovered some issues that would bc of mutual interest to thc council and the school board. A meeting will be scheduled for a future date. Gary Temple thanked everyone who worked on the Laurel Aviation Week. Bill Staudinger expressed concern about the weeds around town. Alan Hovious reported on a recent Neighborhood Watch Meeting at Alder Ridge. Several alternatives have been discussed concerning street lighting in the neighborhood. They are also concerned about street sweeping. Don Hackmann mentioned that the Planning Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, belay 21't. He attended a meeting in Bilhngs for the District #11 Montana League of Cities and Towns. He distributed a handout regarding Municipal Issues for the 1999 Legislature and encouraged anyone with an issue to be addressed to contact him, rite mayor or Alec Hansen at the League office. Mayor Rodgers is setting up a meeting with County Commissioner Bill Kennedy for June th 24 at 6:00 p.m. He also commented on thc success of the Laurel Aviation and Technology Week. Larry McCann reported on the curb work at the cemetery, the sprinkler at the park, and the painting at the swimm'mg pool. An Aquatics Manual has been completed and Anne Easton has been hired as the Aquatics Director for $300 per month. Allison McMillan will be the manager at the pool and she will be tra'ming the lifeguards before the pool opens on June 12th. The water line was replaced on the first block of West First Street and the second block will be done in the fall. The pipe across the bridge at Riverside Park should be completed next week. We are operating on the one million-gallon reservoir at this tinge. Sandblasting has begun on the tank and it should be done in eight weeks. A leak at Firemen's Park will be fixed. G-rover Construction will be here next week to get ready to begin their project at the Water Treatment Plant. The sinkholes at Cottonwood and Main and in the alley on 13t~ will be fixed soon. The alley pickup is behind because of the water line repair that needed to be done. The digester roof at the sewer plant is completed and the interior coating will begin in two weeks. Larry mentioned the recent personnel turnover. Bill Dell resigned from the Operator II position at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Bob Volmer has been promoted into that position. Bids for the Operator I position are being accepted. Tom Kittson resigned and went to work for Copps Construction. Applicatiom for the Code Enforcement and Plant Superintendent positions are being accepted until the 29th. Sue Strand is retiring on May 29"' and her position will need to be filled. Bud Johnson announced a Water Task Force Meeting on Wednesday, May 27th, at 7:00 p.m. '[he meeting adjourned at 6:44 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Cindy Allen Secretary
