January 17, 2017
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the
Council Chambers and called to order by Mayor Mark Mace at 6:30 p.m. on January 17, 2017.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Emelie Eaton Doug Poehls
Bruce McGee Richard Herr
Chuck Dickerson Scot Stokes
Bill Mountsier
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: Tom Nelson
OTHER STAFF PRESENT: None
Mayor Mace led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag.
Mayor Mace asked the council to observe a moment of silence.
MINUTES:
Motion by Council Member Poehls to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of January
3, 2017, as presented, seconded by Council Member Dickerson. There was no public comment or
council discussion. A vote was taken on the motion. All seven council members present voted aye.
Motion carried 7-0.
CORRESPONDENCE.
Laurel Chamber of Commerce: Minutes of December 8, 2016 Agenda for January 12, 2017.
COUNCIL DISCLOSURE OF EX PARTE COMMUNICATIONS.
PUBLIC HEARING.
CONSENT ITEMS:
• Clerk/Treasurer Financial Statements for the month of December 2016.
• Approval of Payroll Register for PPE 01/01/2017 totaling$196,208.17.
• Receiving the Committee/Board/Commission Reports into the Record.
--Budget/Finance Committee minutes of January 3, 2017 were presented.
--Emergency Services Committee minutes of November 28, 2016 were presented.
--City-County Planning Board minutes of January 5, 2017 were presented.
The mayor asked if there was any separation of consent items. There was none.
Motion by Council Member Eaton to approve the consent items as presented, seconded by
Council Member McGee. There was no public comment or council discussion. A vote was taken on
the motion. All seven council members present voted aye. Motion carried 7-0.
CEREMONIAL CALENDAR: None.
REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: None.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION (THREE-MINUTE LIMIT): None.

SCHEDULED MATTERS:
• Confirmation of Appointments.
ITEMS REMOVED FROM THE CONSENT AGENDA: None.
COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS (ONE-MINUTE LIMIT): None.
COUNCIL DISCUSSION:
_ Council Member Poehls mentioned that the Emergency Services Committee will meet on Monday,
January 23`d, at 5:30 p.m.
Council Member Poehls said he is proud of the Public Works Department and how they have dealt
with keeping the streets cleared in the last couple weeks.
Council Member Dickerson agreed with Council Member Poehls that the city is doing a good job of
keeping up with snow removal on the streets.
Council Member Eaton stated that the Public Works Committee met last week. The committee will
get more updates on projects that the Public Works Department is working on. The Public Works
Committee will meet at 6:00 p.m. instead of 5:30 p.m. Kelly Strecker will no longer be able to take
minutes, so the committee will try other ways to do the minutes.
UNSCHEDULED MATTERS: None.
ADJOURNMENT:
Motion by Council Member Dickerson to adjourn the council meeting, seconded by Council
Member Mountsier. There was no public comment or council discussion. A vote was taken on the
motion. All eight council members present voted aye. Motion carried 8-0.
There being no further business to come before the council at this time, the meeting was adjourned at
6:38 p.m.
