Old Business
The book sale proceeds totaled $1,280.30. A great big thank you to Darlene Enriquez, Mike
Furman and Bill Hanson for all their hard work in setting up tables and preparing the books for
the sale. Rose Marie Kline, Darlene, Bill and Nicole Hess worked very hard at the sale during
most of the week. Julia Torna worked the sale on Saturday afternoon until the library closed for
the day. We are currently looking for other outlets for our excess books to help with our limited
storage space.
Mike and Nancy will attend training for Partners implementation in Columbus on December 1st.
Part of the new rules that we are agreeing to are the cessation of fines for overdue books. Patrons
will still have to pay for lost or damaged books.
New Business
Laurel Library will be implementing access to six new databases for our patrons. The list
includes Chilton Library for automotive repair, Gale Biography in Context for biographical
research, General OneFile for basic information access, Health& Wellness Resource Center for
anyone wanting to research their own medical history, InfoTrac Newsstand includes access to
numerous newspaper and journal articles, Kids Infobits for our younger students to use for
research and Research in Context for the older students&adults that are researching anything
they can't find in one of the other databases. The subscription to these databases will run until
the end of November 2017. If they are well used during the next year,we may consider renewing
our subscription.
It's that time of year again...our anneal statistics are due November 18, 2016. The State Library
requires each public library to statistically report expenses, income, traffic, circulation, etc. as
part of the State Aid Grant. If we don't complete the statistics,we don't receive our grants.
Nancy will be busy next week pulling numbers to submit for the final report.
Other
The library will be closed Thursday,November 24th for Thanksgiving but not Saturday,
November 26th. Staff can request that day off if they want to take a vacation day.
Geralyn will be on vacation December 19th—24th. She has family coming to visit. Her sick leave
will begin December 27th and run through February 11th, 2017. Other staff will be adjusting
schedules as much as possible to accommodate her time off.
