A report of the Building Department activity from July through December 1998 had also been distributed. Larry stated that the new Insurance Services Organization is actually rating Building Departments now. Many changes and improvements have been made within our Building Department in the past year, and we will be prepared when the City of Laurel is rated. Bud Johnson requested that the Building Department compile a monthly report for the council. Larry mentioned that three of our dedicated employees spent Christmas Day working on the water line on Idaho Street. One of the residents in the area has filed an insurance claim for damages. Some aerial photographs taken of the flood damages from the river in 1966, 1984, 1992 and 1998 were available for the council's review. Cai Cumin distributed copies of two letters regarding the CTEP project. Laurel has $56,400 of CTEP monies left, and some money needs to be added to the Firemen's Park Cabin Restoration Project. He approached the Lions Club and Larry McCarm about putting the rest of the money into the South Pond Project. The two letters initiated this process and requested that $14,000 is added to the Cabin Restoration Project and $56,400 is added to the South Pond Project. Mayor Rodgers agreed to sign the letters.
