Mutual Aid Agreements
Chairman Doug Poehls handed out copies of a Mutual Aid Agreement for the City of
Laurel and Cenex Harvest States, Inc. He asked for discussion pertaining to this Mutual
Aid Agreement that was formatted from the one approved for the City of Billings. A
question was asked in regards to incidents where each department is trained in different
areas. Cenex firemen are not trained to respond to fires in buildings or to grass fires. Pat
Kimmet commented that more training would be beneficial to Cenex as the refinery has
several building structures. Fire Chief Wilm pointed out that a Mutual Aid Agreement is
for backup to fire calls and Cenex is the closest and quickest to respond. Having the
extra manpower to assist in different areas is beneficial to a fire call. Support is
important and some firemen are cross-trained for both the City and Cenex fire
departments. A second question was asked regarding protection to Cenex's
administration building on the east side of the road. The refinery side was the only side
that was in the Mutual Aid Agreement in the past. Discussion whether the
administration building would be included in the Mutual Aid Agreement or should they
be part of Fire Dist. 7.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
