Members Present: Tom Nelson Clete Knaub Doug Poehls Bruce McGee Others Present: Brent Peters,Fire Chief Dr. Jedediah Walker, Ambulance Medical Director Sherry Sauskojus Brad Shoemaker, County EMS Director Kurt Markegard, PWD Ann Soares, Rimrock Chevrolet-Parking Ann Soares, Rimrock Chevrolet, did not attend the meeting. There was discussion on the ordinance for truck parking within the city limits that states "it is unlawful and constitutes a public offense for any person to park a truck as defined above on any street or avenue within the city, and outside of that area which may from time to time by the city ordinance be designated as the central business district, except for an emergency or for loading and unloading purposes". Chief Musson had previously mentioned that the police deal with the parking on a complaint basis. A statement was made that the committee now has a complaint that has to be considered. There was more discussion on the ordinance stating "it is unlawful for any person to park a vehicle in the city that has a width greater that 104 inches, or a total length exceeding 34 feet including load". It also states that "when appropriate signs are erected, as hereinafter provided, no person shall operate, drive, cause or permit to be operated or driven, any truck, as defined in this chapter, on any restricted street, except as hereinafter provided". It was recommended to have the Police Dept. and Public Works Dept. look into putting up signs. Presentation by County EMS Director Brad briefed the committee on a countywide EMS. There would be an ALS level of service throughout the county with two locations of twenty-four hour staff, with one in Worden and one in Laurel. Brent agreed this is the direction the city may need to go. Laurel does have the building and ambulances. Brad said he would come back with more information and numbers. Doug stated they have our support and the committee would then need to present it to the council. If the City is interested, they would go forward and talk to the County Board of Commissioners. Other Items Bruce presented some questions on a tax increase to benefit the emergency services of Laurel. The questions are designed to gather the citizens' feelings about their support to increase funding for Laurel Emergency Services. He handed out the questions to committee members to review. Respectfully Submitted, Neva Hall Secretary
