The Montana League of Cities and Towns will hold its 76th Annual Conference this
October 3~a through 5th in Bozeman. The host city, working with the League, is planning
an agenda that includes informative workshops, interesting speakers and entertaining
social events.
The Best Western GranTree Inn has been selected as the conference headquarters. A
block of sleeping rooms is available at the GranTree Inn - (406) 587-5261 and the
Holiday Inn across the parking lot - (406) 587-4561.
Steve Beck, a nationally known motivational speaker, will deriver the Keynote Address.
Governor Brian Schweitzer and members of the Congressional Delegation will also be
invited to speak. In addition, the program will feature presentations on revenue
alternatives for local governments, impact fees, water quality, tax increment financing,
capital improvements, the upcoming federal census, budgeting, personnel policies, risk
management and other subjects of topical interest to cities and towns. As always, them
will be special programs for clerks and finance officers, city attorneys and public works
directors.
The President's Reception will be held at the Museum of the Rockies and will feature
good food and a dance band. The Ringling Five, a group specializing in country music
and cowboy humor, will offer the banquet entertainment. The host city is also planning
an interesting spouse's program that will feature a tour of Bozeman's spectacular new
library.
Conference registration fees have not been increased since 1999, and the Board of
Directors voted in Sune to keep the current rates for at least one more year. The general
idea that stands behind all of the planning for these meetings is to provide members with
the information and ideas they need and the good times they deserve at a price that is fair
to all of those who attend. We believe this formula works and we hope to see you
October 3-5 in Bozeman.
