Dear City Employees';
In August of 2006, our daughter Chris Schurf, residing on 5th street in Laurel, was
dltt~gnosed'~ith a cancerous braifflllmor. At lhalVrme it became neeessarsrforx~s tolmvel
to Laurel to help with her care. We were fommate to locate your Riverside RV Park,
where we could park our 5m wheel. It was convenient, and affordable and well
maintained. Our association with your park manager Jen was always a positive
experience, and she was always ready and willing to help.
After the Park closed for the camping season, we were able to still stay in the park,
with the kind permission of Steve, (The Director of Public Works), the mayor, and with
the valuable assistance of Cheryll Lurid.
I know, having worked for a City Government for over 25 years that it's not easy to
make exceptions to the rules. However, in our case, it was done, and it made a bad
situation that much easier to deal with, and for that we will be foreve,rthgr~,teful.
Our daughter, after a valiant battle, finally passed away on July 10 . She remarked
several times, how much she enjoyed living in Laurel, and after our time spent there we
can see why.
In closing we wish to give our tlmnks to all those, known and unknown, who help us
during this very trying time.
