AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 14 TO ADOPT THE
INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE, 11003 EDITION,
AND PROVIDING AUTHORITY FOR THE MAYOR TO ADOPT FUTURE
ADDITIONS OF THE CODE THROUGH ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER.
wm~REAS, the State of Montana requires local governments to certify and update their
local building code enforcement programs in accordance with MCA § 50-60-302 and ARM
24.301.207; end
WHEREAS, the City's Building Codes currently require updating for compliance with the
State Law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Laurel City Council that Title 14 is
hereby created and adopted as follows:

INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE

14.22.010 Adoption.
A. The International Enerev Conservation Code. 2003 Edition~ is adopted by and declared to be
the energy conservation code of the city for the ourpo_ se of providing minimum requirements for the
design of new buildings and structures and additions to existing building~ regulating their exterior
envelopes and selection of their heating, ventilating, air conditioning~ service water heatino
electrical distn~oution end illuminating, systems, and eauipment for effective use of energy.
B. One full printed copy of the code shall be available in the offices of the city. The International
Enerk, v Conservation Code, 2003 Edition, is adooted by reference and made a part of this chapter aS
fullY, and for all intents and purooses, es though set forth herein at length. It shall be known and
designated as the "Enemy Conservation Code" of the City.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED THAT the City Council authorizes subsequent additions
of all the currently adopted building codes contained in Title 14 by Administrative Order of the
Mayor;, and
This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City
Council and approved bythe Mayor.
Introduced and passed on first reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on
April 3 ,2007, by Council Member Poehls

May ,2007, upon motion of Council Member Poehls
