One of the cornerstones of our Democracy is an accurate census. Data collected in the
2010 Census will be used to apportion Congress while helping communities across the
Nation plan for services like schools, transportation, and health care. The U. S. Census
Bureau is making preparations now to count every household in the United States and
we cannot do it alone. We need the help of State and local governments to be

Although the 2010 Census is 3'/2 years away, it is not too soon for state and local
governments to begin planning activities to ensure a complete and accurate census.
One of the lessons learned from the 2000 Census is that involvement of local
governments in the process did make a difference in the final count.
We invite you to join us fora 2-hour meeting that will provide you an overview of the
2010 Census plans and activities. At the meeting, we will discuss ways state and focal
governments can be involved in ensuring we have a successful census. Topics include.

*2010 Census Overview and Timeline
*American Community Survey & Data Releases
*Complete Count Committees
*Local Update of Census Addresses & Geographic Programs
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the State Capitol, Room 137,
1301 East Sixth Avenue, Helena, MT from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. To confirm,

* Anyone may attend any of the LUCA Promotional Workshops. Currently we have
mailed invitations to an 8 County area announcing the Kalispell and Missoula meetings.
