Pending Construction on Locust Ave:
The city crew will begin replacing the waterline, adding one fire hydrant and replacing one hydrant on
Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Kurt stated they will dig up the six-inch line and the homes will be on temporary
water until the new water line is in place. This street is currently gravel. Kurt had to get a county permit to
do this project since half of the street is in the city and half is in the county.
Work done on Second Ave., Yellowstone Ave and Altana Credit Union.:
Kurt stated that Second Ave. had a main water break. Matt received two bids on repaving the street and
Billings Asphalt will be doing the work. Kurt explained that the waterline on Yellowstone Ave. will
eventually be replaced, but there is not an exact date. Altana Credit Union had a sewer backup which was
caused by a blocked line in the roof drain. When the sewer backed up, the raw sewage leaked onto the
bathroom floor and into the lobby. This backup was all their responsibility, but they have asked for TIFD
funds.
Removal of the Weir in the River:
Kurt stated that the Army Corps would not allow us to leave the weir in the river and it needed to be
removed by the time the springtime flows started. Donnes Inc. submitted a bid to remove the weir in the
river. The bid was accepted by the City. The weir has been removed and the river has come up. Kurt
stated that the Army Corps will be processing the intake.
Problems at the Septic Dump Station:
Kurt stated that the septic haulers put their rubber gloves into the tank and plugged it. The gloves
overloaded the pump. Kurt said they are waiting for a part to fix the pump before they can get it up and
running again. The station has been shut down for about two months.
Filling South Pond now that the ditch is closed.:
Kurt stated that the pond has never been filled by the ditch. He said that ground water and rain is what
fills the pond. The ditches are open now so ground water should help fill the pond. Emelie stated that the
weirs are showing due to the pond being so shallow.
Other:
While in the meeting, the Sewer Plant was starting to overflow due the large amount of rain we were
getting.
South East 4th St. striping will begin on May 24`h
The meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
