Board Meeting Minutes
The Meeting was held on April 14th, 2016 at the Chamber Log Cabin. In attendance were: Executive
Board Members: President- Holly Anderson,VP-Amanda Powell,Treasurer- Molly Conrad and executive
secretary- Marcia Hafner. Directors: Donnie McVee, Brent Renier, Mary Lou Batalden,Ann Soares, Rob Lowe,
and Sandy Reese. Members: Penny Korte.
Holly called the meeting to order.
The minutes were approved: moved to approve - Molly, 2nd -Sandy.
The financial report and bills were presented for payment:
Old BUSINESS
• Audit report- Brent presented to the board and Sandy handed out a written report.
There were no discrepancies. The committee felt an audit should be done every year and
had a few recommendations for reporting.
• July 4th Community Committee - Marcia reported that the committee has started
working. The 4th will be on a Monday, which should help with clean up, etc. There was
some discussion about the end of the parade route. We will again go by the LH&R on 3rd.
It is much easier for their residents.
• Visitor Guides/Maps - Marcia reported she has sold ads and has turned the information
in to the Outlook for printing.
• Laurel Alive - Judy contacted Marcia and says she has the financials ready. This year will
be a partnership with KC's Palace. KC will be doing the alcohol and the bands.
New BUSINESS
• New Members-
• Spotlight on Business - Always looking for new.
• Seasonal Assistant - Applications are coming in to the office.
• Cyber Ransomed - An "application" came in with an attached "resume". Looked like any
other, but when the resume was clicked on it began to encrypt our files. Everything was
shut down and Carbonite and Entre' were called. Everything is now fixed.
• Lunch & Learn - Marcia reported she had gotten some calls wondering about updating to
Windows 10. Entre' will do a lunch & learn on Windows 10 in Laurel if we provide the
lunch. It is usually at the Entre' office, with Subway sandwiches, etc. Moved to approve-
Amanda, 2nd — Mary Lou. Approved.
OPEN FORUM.
• Bison Run - The April Fool's Joke someone placed on Facebook has caused quite a stir.
We received several communications from people wanting to attend next year's event. The
city reported they even got a call from their insurance agent.

OLD BUSINESS
• July 4th -Still looking for a group for distributing water at the race and clean up on Tuesday.
• Visitor Guide - Outlook working on them.
• Rock the Block - KC came in with dates and bands. Currently on the webpage.
• Seasonal Assistant- Sally Waters was hired. She will start May 31st.
• Lunch &Learn - We had a good group with questions. The Chamber would like to do some more
after the 4th. Some suggestions for topics....?
NEW BUSINESS -
• Vacation - Marcia would like to be gone June 3rd to June 14th.

OPEN FORUM -
• LURA- Marcia - Next meeting is May 16th at the library. Marcia turned in the sign project for the
facade improvement grant. Large grant distribution has been decided.
