Dear Mayor Olsen and City Councilmen,
My name is Jodi Hoppel. I am the co-director of Making a
Difference, a children's nonprofit organization based in Laurel. We are once
again organizing the Laurel Oktoberfest. The location for this event will be
at the Miller's Horse Palace just outside of Laurel. The date for the Laurel
Oktoberfest will be September 22~a - 24th, 2006. This year since the event
is held outside the city limits we are aware that the city's involvement is
limited. However, ifpussible, we. would.like the mayor and the city council
to participate in our event. On Friday night, the 22nd of September, we
would like to host a tapping of the keg to commence the Oktoberfest.
According to tradition, it is usually performed by the tom's mayor. We
would be honored if the mayor and the city council would take time out of
their schedule's to perform this tradition. I have enclosed my contact
information so that someone from the city may let me know the answer to
our ~quest and in case there may be any questions in regards to our event.
