Motion b~ Alderman Metzger ~ That The claims for September be approved
for payment. Seconded by Alderman Carter. Carried.
A thank you note was read fr~m the Bundy Fami~.
Latter was received from Jim Hunt bidding on the Firemen's house at
208 West 2nd. Cashiers check of $101.00 attached. The clerk is to write
Mr. Hunt a letter that the house would have to be re-bid.. The check to be
returned.
MAYOR WAT~ SYST~N MODIFICATION CONTRACT:
Notion by Alderman Eh.rl.iok: To grant the Mayor authority to sign the
E~gineer agreement with N. [. M. Associates for the Water System Modification
Contract. Seconded by Alderman Meyers. Carried.

Request to vacate a portion of South Montana Avenue between Blocks 12
and 13 en 4th Street S~.. This matter referred to the Street and Alley
C~,m-:ttee.
MAYOR - -M~P~R ISAACS REST~NATION:
Mayor announced the resignation of Murr Isaacs effective October 1, 1978,
Mayor stated that he would like to hire a Certified Engineer.

Motion b.y Alderman Kilpatrick: That the matter of hiring an Engineer
be tabled until the duties of an Engineer have been reviewed. Seconded
by Alderman Meyers.
Discussion
Roll c,ll vote on tabeling the motion is as follows. Those in favor of
tabaling are Ronald Massey, Thomas ~lpatrick, and Donald Meyers.
Those agatust tabeling are Ervin Metzger, Susan Carter, Albert Ehrlick,
Charles Rodgers, and Bob Burns. Motion failed.
Vote on original motion carried.
Motion b~ Aldarm~ ~lpatrick= That a special masting be set up within
a month to outline the duties of an Engineer. Seconded by Alderman
Meyers. Carried.
Discussion regarding the hiring of a temporary ~,t~diog and Plumbing Inspector.
Motion b.y Alderman Ne.yore: That the City hire a ~,~l~Lt~g and Plumbing
Inspector on a temporary basis and pay him according to the inspections
he makes. Seconde~ by Alde~,~ Eh~liek. Carried.
KILPATRICK - -RECONSID~ DECISION ON $~DEWALK ON 8TH AVENUE:
Motion by Alderman Kilpatrick: To reconsider previos action regarding
the property Owner at §02 West. ~th to io~tall sidewalk on his property.
Seco~ied by Alderm-~ Carter. Roll c~ll vote shows Alderman Thomas
· ~patrick, Cahrlee Rodgers, Susan Carter, and Ronald Massey voting yes.
Vot*~g no Alderman ~lbert Ehrlick, Bob B~rns, Ervin Metzger, and Donald
Mayors. The Mayor broke the tie by voting no. Motion failed.

Discussion regarding the possibilities of bu~-ing or renting a sweeper.
This matter w.~l] be put on the agenda for the next regular C~mcil
Discussion regarding the inst-~l~tion of regulation school s~us to be
inst~ed at all Laurel Schools. Lenhardt to check into the possibility of
State or Federal fending available for signs.
Motion h~ Alderman Ehrliok: That regulation School signs be iust~ed
at all Schools. Seoomded by Alderman Rodgers. Carried.
Motion b~ Alderman ~lick ~ To accept the minutes of the S~reet and Alley
Committee dated ~-26-7§ into the official record. Seconded by ~lderman
· ~ ~patriek. Carried.

Joha l~asMa.~in briefly expemied the Transpox~ation Plan as set up for ~aurel.
Notion b~ Alderman Kilpatrick: To adopt these plans as the City of Laurel
TranspOrtation Plan. Seconded by Alderman Ehrlick. Carried.
REICH - -STORM ~ PLANS
M. X. M. Associates has redone the Storm sewer plans from 1974 as
drawn up by S. T. R.

Roger Reich reed a letter from the Ditch Companies stating that they have
passed a Resolution saying that the City cannot dump drair~ge into their
ditches.
Motion b~ Alderman ~h~lick.' That the City Attorney draw up ~1.1 proper
Resolutions necessary to p3~ce the matter of Storm Sawer Drainage Plan
for the downtown area as a bond issue on the November 7th ballot.
Seconded by Alderman Meyers. Carried.
Motion b~ ~_lderman Rodgers: To look into studying the possibilities
of the Nutting Dream. Seconded by Alderman Carter. Carried.
Mayor stated that Darrell Keek has resigned from the Board of ~AJust-
me,ts and he would like to appoint Andy Muri.
Motion b~ Aldar~_~_ Burns: To accept the Mayor's appointment of Andy
Muri to the Board of Adjustments. Seconded by Alderman Metzger.
Carried.
Motion b~ Alderman Metz~e~: To accept the B~&get and Revenue as presented
by the F~n~nce Committee. Seconded by Alderman Earlick. Carried.
~OB ~S - -WAGES:
Motion b~ Alderman Burns: That the Clerks in the office and the Super-
visary Personnel be given a 415 an hour raise this year and ~05 an hour
next year. Also an adjustment to Celia Eastons wage. ~aisee retrOactive
to 7 - 1 - 78. Seconded by Alderman Carter. Carried. With Alderman
~hwlick and Kflpatrick voting no.
There being no further business to come before the Council at this time,
the meeting was adjourned.
