July 5, 1978
A r~gular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana,
was held in t~e Council Chambers, and was called to order by Mayor Larry D. ~erma~,
at 7:00 o'clock, P.M., on Wednesday, July 5, 1978. (Regular meeting being July
4th, which wa~ a Holiday)

The iminutes of June 20th approved as presented.

Letter of resignation from Jo Ann Little effective August 1, 1978.
The Mayor sta~ed that this should be accepted, and a letter written to Jo.
Trustees.
MotiOn by Alderman Kil~atrick: To accept this resignation. Seconded
by ~lderman Burns. Carried.
Letter of resignation from Susan Nissen from the Library Board of
Thel Mayor accepted her resignation and appointed Jean Williams.
~otiOn by Alderman Massey: To approve the appointment of the Mayor.
SecOnded by Alderman Metzger. Carried.
MotiOn by Alderman Ehrlick: To accept the appointment of the Rev.
Billet to replace Chuck Giblin on the Police Com~ission since Giblin
doesI not wish to serve another term. Seconded by Alderman Kilpatrick.
Carriied.
MotiOn b~ Alderman Ehrlick: To accept the appointment of E.L. Roberts
to t,he City County Planning Board to replace William Siegel who does not
wishl to serve another term. Seconded by Alderman Rodgers. Carried.

RESOLUTION NO.1 1684, BEING A RESOLUTION SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS
OF THE CITY O~ LAUREL, MONTANA, THE QUESTION OF GRANTING TO M-D-U Co., a corp.,
its successorsi and assigns, a franchise to construct, maintain and operate within
and upon, in and under the streets, alleys and public grounds of the City of
Laurel, Mont. i
Motibn b~ Alderman Ehrlick: To adopt Resolution No. 1684. Seconded
by ~lderman Meyers. Carried.
REDMAN - GUNTE~ Vacate Street:
RESOLUTION NO. 1685
RESOLUTION NO.I 1685, BEING A RESOLUTION VACATING CERTAIN LANDS IN THE MORRIS
SUBDIVISION.
MotiOn by Alderman Red, ers: That this Resolution be passed and adopted.
Seconded by Alderman Carter. Carried.
STP. EET AND ALLEY COMMITTEE:
Motibn by Alderman Ehrlick: That the City Attorney draft an ordinance
establishing a load limit on First Ave. and Eighth Avenue, and see to
it that they are strictly enforced. Seconded by Alderman Kilpatrick.
Carried.
Motxon b~ Alderman Ehrlick: That the fence (Wennemar's) between Date
and ~lm stay up for now. Seconded by Alderman Meyers. After taking
the ;vote. it was defeated, and the fence is to come down. ~' .

Motion by Alderman Ehrlick: That letters be directed to the property
whirs ~nvolved w~th xnstall~ng s~dewalk, curb or gutter, or possibly
all ,three in some cases. Seconded by Alderman Kilpatrick. Carried.
Motion by Alderman Ehrlick: That a copy of the Street and Alley
Committee minutes.be incorporated into the minutes. Seconded by
Alderman Metzger. Carried.
REAL ESTATE ~T:
Annexation of Lots 36 and 37, Block 1, Ingraham Subdivision. This
matter turned iover to the City County Planning Board.

RESOLUTION NO. 1686
RESOLUTION NO.1 1686, BEING A RESOLUTION PRESENTING A LAND USE ELEMENT PLAN FOR
THE CITY OF ~UREL, MONTANA.
Motion by Alderman Kilpatrick: That Resolution No. 1686 be adopted.
SecOnded by Alderman Metzger. ~pon taking roll call vote, Aldermen
Metzlger, ~a~, Massey and ~u~s voted "Aye", and Aldermen Rodgers,
Meyelrs, Kll~a~ick and Ehrlick voted "Naye". The Mayor broke the tie
by gloing along in favor of the City County Planning Board's Recommendatio~
and ithe motion then carried. (Resolution No. 1686 passed and adopted.)
Dickl Metzger reported on a request from Safeway's Store regarding
a water tap. I
