HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board Minutes 10.06.2015 Minutes of the Laurel Public Library Board of Trustees October 6, 2015 Attending Rose Marie Kline Dixie Feller Bill Hanson Nancy Schmidt Minutes September 2015 minutes were presented. Bill motioned to approve the minutes as read and corrected, Dixie seconded the motion. Motion passed. Correspondence A check in the amount of$8,900.68 was received from the Montana State Library. This is a Federation payment from Montana State Library. Circulation Report—compared to same time period last year... Traffic: down 4.3%; circulation: all items circulated totaled 3,016(including 243 eBooks),book circulation was down 6.33%, media circulation was down 29.16%, eBook checkouts for this month was 9.1% of total book circulation; computers: internet use was down 26.17%, children's use was up 8.33%, wi-fi use up 6.82%; patron cards:not available at this time. There were 31 tech assists in September. Old Business Nancy attended the Montana Shared Catalog meeting and the Montana State Library Workshops in Helena on October 1st-3`d, 2015. She stated that it was very informational—again. Brushing up on database use for reports and weeding through the Shared Catalog is always good training. The fall book sale is being scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, 2015 through Saturday, October 31, 2015. The hours should run 9:00 am—7:00 pm Tuesday through Friday and 9:00 am—4:00 pm on Saturday. Watch for signs to be displayed around town. Final copies of the Library Internet Use Policy were handed out to Board members for their own files. Extra copies will be kept at the Circulation desk for the public. New Business Once again, the library will be providing flash drives to patrons that need technology help. Many times a patron comes in for assistance with resumes or other forms but don't realize they should save them to something beside the computer. We are providing the 2gb flash drives as a means of advertising the library. Nancy will be in Helena Monday, October 12`h and Tuesday, October 13`h to give the fall Federation report to the State Library Commission. She will also be attending the PLD/ASLD Retreat at Chico Hot Springs October 18`h & 19`h. Training will focus on the future of libraries in our communities.Nancy will give a report at the next Board meeting. It is time to looking at updating other library policies. Copies of Library Use Rules, Patron Conduct Rules, and Computer Usage Guidelines were handed out for comments and suggestions. The changes will be discussed and adopted at the Board meeting in November.
