HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 04.04.1978Minutes of the City Council of Laurel April 4, 1978 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the Council Chambers, and called to order by Mayor Larry D. Herman, at 7:00 o'clock, P.M., on Tuesday, April 4, 1978. ROLL CALL: Council members present: Ervin Metzger Susan Carter Harold E. Burns Charles Rodgers Donald Meyers Thomas Kilpatrick Albert Ehrlick Ronald Massey Council members absent: None PRESENTATION OF T~E FLAG: Flag was presented by Girl Scout Troop No. 84 represented by Debbie Schwenneker, Janet Little, Kim Holzheimer and Bobbi Weatherman. INVOCATION: - None MINUTES'AND CORRESPONDENCE: Minutes of March 21, 1978 approved as presented. J. E. WETCH - WATER HOOK-UP: Mayor turned this matter over to the Public Utilities Committee. Correspondence: Invitation to attend tea in honor of Mrs. Edna Chapman, retiring member of the Library Board. April 6th from 2- 4 P.M. and from 7c9 P.M. Letter to be written to Mrs. Chapman. Mayor announced that he had accepted the resignation of Vernon L. Mydland from the Laurel Police Department. Larry K. Bergum has requested a 90-day leave of absence without pay from the Laurel Police Department to attend the Montana Highway Patrol Academy. From April 12th to June 26th, 1978. There being no objections to this action, the Mayor granted the leave of absence. RESOLUTION NO. 1672 BEING A i{ESOLUTION EXTENDING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF LAUP~EL, MONTANA, TO INCLUDE LOTS 12, 13 and 14, BLOCK 6; LOTS 2, 7, 8, AND 9, BLOCK 9; LOTS 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, BLOCK 10; MURRAY HEIGHTS, 2ND FILING, YELLOWSTONE COUNTY, MONTANA. Motion b~ Alderman Metz~er: That Resolution No. 1672 be declared passed and adopted. Seconded by Alderman Ehrlick. Carried. VACATION OF STREET IN MORRIS SUBDIVISION: Nolan Gunter and James Redman M~tion by Alderman Kilpatrick: To refer to committee and go through proper channels. City Attorney stated $100.00 fee required and only $25.00 check attached. Seconded by Alderman Massey. Carried. STREET AND ALLEY COMMITTEE MEETING - ALDERMAN EHRLICK: Motion by Alderman Burns: To accept all recommendations ~ the committee except No. 1, and that the minutes of the meet~ be included in the official minutes. Seconded by Alderman Carter. Carried. MAYOR~'S CO~4ENTS: The Mayor asked for suggestions of persons he could contact, or interested persons who might contact him, if they would be interested in serving on the Library Board, or the Gambling Commission. COMPUTERS: Alderman Carter reported on the computers and requested a short recess to consider the two bids received. Whereupon the Mayor declared a 15 minute recess for this purpose. Meeting called back to order. Motion by Alderman Carter: That the City of Laurel accept the bid of the NCR Corporation. Seconded by Alderman Kilpatrick. Motion carried with Alderman Massey and Meyers voting "No". Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Suggested by Alderman Burns with the possibility to come from Revenue Sharing Funds. MAYOR: Letter has been written to the City Employees Union stating that the Council wishes to open the contract. Also that Alderman Burns and Alderman Carter to be representatives of the City Council in the Union negotiations. Motion by Alderman Ehrlick: That the appointments be approved. Seconded by Alderman Meyers. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the council at this session, motion was duly made and seconded that the meeting be adjourned.
