March 7, 1978
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana,
was held in the Council Chambers, and called to order by Mayor Larry D. Herman at
7:00 o'clock, P.M., on Tuesday, March 7, 1978.

PRESENTATION OF THE FLAG:
Flag was presented by Girl Scout Troup No. 80, represented by
Nanette Johnson, Stacey McFate, Klm Hatfield and Dee Dee Sutherland.
INVOCATION:
Invocation given by the Reverend Ferguson.
MINUTES AND CORRESPONDENCE:
Minutes of February 21st approved as presented.
Letter from David K. Powers, Fire Chief, stating that Brad Wilder
had been accepted as a fireman.
Motion by Alderman Ehrlick: That the appointment of Brad Wilder
be approved. Seconded by Alderman Meyers: Carried.

Motion by Alderman Metz~er: That the claims be allowed. Seconded
by Alderman Ehrlick. Carried.
QUIT CLAIM DEED:
Tracts A and B of Certificate of Survey No. 1752; said certificate
filed for record February 10, 1978, at 10:00 A.M., under Document
No. 1079237, records of Yellowstone County, Montana
Motion by Alderman Burns: To give the Mayor and City Clerk the
authority to sign the Quit Claim Deed. Seconded by Alderman
Ehrlick. Carried.
GENERAL CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS:
RESOLUTION NO. 1669
RESOLUTION NO. 1669, BEING A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE GENERAL CONSTRUCTION
SPECIFICATIONS.
Motion by Alderman Ehrlick: That this Resolution be declared passed
and adopted. Seconded by Alderman Meyers. Carried.
HEALTH & GARBAGE COMMITTEE:
Motion by Alderman Rod~ers: That the minutes of the Health & Garbage
Committee meeting dated March 1, 1978, be introduced into the minutes.
Seconded by Alderman Meyers. Carried.
PROGRAM ON STREETS & ROADS:
Conference to be held in Bozeman by the Montana Roads and Streets
Conference on March 21 & 22, 1978.
Motion by Alderman Ehrlick: That Murr Isaacs and Dick Metzger be
sent to this conference. Seconded by Alderman Meyers. Carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 650:
Alderman were not ready to discuss this Ordinance at length at this
time. The Mayor said that he would call a special meeting for this purpose at
a future time.
AUDIT OF THE CITY OF LAUREL FOR THE 1976-1977 FISCAL YEAR:
Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Motion by Alderman Carte~: That the City Council accept the bid
from Mr. Albert. Seconded by Alderman Metzger. Carried.
MAYOR'S COMMENTS:
Mayor stated that the City should provide life insurance for the
Volunteer Firemen.
Motion b~ Alderman Kilpatrick: To pay the life insurance for the
firemen, rate being $3.20 per month. Seconded by Alderman Ehrlick.
Carried.
Stated that the supervisors were arranging for a seven-day work week,
though keeping to a 40 hour week. Some employees would have weekdays off rather
that Saturdays and Sundays.
CLAIM FROM HK~:
Beven presented this claim for~engineering and stated that it should
be paid.
Motion b~ Alderman Metzger: That the claim to HKM in the amount of
$15,702.30 be allowed. Seconded by Alderman Carter. Carried.
There being no further business to come before the council at this
session, the meeting was adjourned.
