PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
JANUARY 11,2016 5:30 P.M.

Schedule of Fees and Charges:
Kurt brought a proposed Schedule of Fees and Charges to the committee to show new changes in the
upcoming year. The main focus was on the system development fees. There is going to be a large increase
in these fees. A proposed schedule was given to each committee member for review.
DEO Sewer Plant discharge permit:
Kurt handed out the Public Notice letter that he received from the DEQ. He also handed out the city's
response to the DEQ draft discharge permit. Kurt and Tim briefly discussed the problems that the sewer
plant is facing. At this time, the nitrate levels are too high, and the plant is working to get those levels
down. Tim stated that the nitrate level in the river is at 17% and the DEQ is requesting that the nitrate
level going back into the river should be at 10%. Tim stated that they are working to get the levels down,
but it is very hard when the river nitrate level is higher than they want the discharge level to be.
Other:
Kelly let the committee know that, as of the March meeting, she will be resigning from the committee.
Emelie asked that this be put on next agenda for further discussion.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
