HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaurel Chamber of Commerce (37) Laurel Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting Minutes The Meeting was held on December 10, 2015 at Guadalajara. In attendance were: Executive Board Members: President-Christy Williams,VP- Holly Anderson,Treasurer- Molly Conrad and executive secretary- Marcia Hafner. Directors: Donnie McVee, Brent Renier, Mary Lou Batalden,Amanda Powell,Annie Seaman, Cindy Drake and Sandy Reese. Members: Bruce Larson and Rob Lowe. Christy called the meeting to order. The minutes were approved with the amended date: moved to approve-Annie, 2"d - Holly. The finandal report was approved and bills were presented for payment: moved to approve- Holly, 2nd - Cindy. Old BUSINESS • New Board Members - Bruce Larson from Yellowstone Bank and Rob Lowe from MasterLube were voted in as new board members in 2016. Moved to accept- Molly, 2nd- Donnie. The New Executive Board was voted on. Holly will be the new president, Amanda will be the new vice-president and Molly will continue as treasurer. Moved to accept - Annie, 2nd-Mary Lou. • City Lease Agreement - An agreement has been signed. Christy reported on the meeting. The city accepted the conditions the Chamber board put forth. • Christmas Decorations - The decorations are up. We had a great crew and we were done in a little over an hour. Marcia will call Lumpy to check on the ones on South First that are not lit. • Holiday Open House - Goodie sign up was passed around. Invitations have been sent out. Marcia will send out reminders the week of the event. The special event form for the city has been turned in and received back. New BUSINESS • New Members- Country Cuts - Owner Misty Keane. She would like a ribbon cutting on Monday the 14th • Spotlight on Business - Always looking for new. • Annual Meeting - Marcia has started collecting items for the raffles. She will send out postcards after the first of the year. Invitations are also in the newsletter. It was discussed if we would want a speaker or some entertainment. It was decided against, that it would run too long on a Thursday night and the raffles provide their own entertainment. • Budget - Molly presented the budget for 2016. Moved to approve-Sandy, 2nd-Cindy. Approved. • Banking - Marcia presented a special offer for a CD at Altana. The interest is 1.44% for 25 months, which is much higher than the .05% we are earning now. It was moved to approve placing $8,000 in the CD. Moved by Annie, 2nd-Cindy. Approved. OPEN FORUM • Mary Lou brought up several ideas. She mentioned trying to get more businesses involved in Christmas to Remember. Octoberfest ? A possible community welcome wagon. • Business after Hours - February, March ... Executive board needs to make sure their name is on the bank signature cards. • Holiday Open House -The Open House was a success. We had lots of people and made some good contacts. • Annual Meeting- Remember to get your RSVP's into the office. Donations are coming in, but I may need some help picking them all up. NEW BUSINESS - • New Members- KC's Palace Bar&Lanes- KC Henry owner, High Plains Brewing - Levi & David BeQuette owners. • By Laws - Look over amended by-laws and vote. • Laurel Revitalization- Bills are coming in and not being paid. We've already taken over the insurance for the Caboose. What to do about the MRL lease and the electricity? It seems to be in our name. • Bike to Build- Ribbon Cuttings There are several new members looking to set up dates. High Plains would like next Monday.
