The Yellowstone Conservation District has a shared interest with you in the resource issues of the expanding urban area in Yellowstone County. As an elected and appointed supervisor since 1982, I have considerable interest and dedicated commitment to the conservation of our natural resources and the education of the general public in areas of water quality/quantity, urban nonpoint source pollution, land use and development. Various state and federal agencies work in conjunction with the Conservation Districts to offer technical and financial assistance. The ability of the Conservation District to facilitate projects has benefited our urban communities. Funding and assistance has come to our county for education workshops/tours, Yellowstone River and grounds water studies, bike path landscape materials and enhancements such as the current construction of a shelter and education center at Swords Park, the Christmas tree chipping program, Chamber or Commerce events, the annual education activities for all 4th graders in our county at the Nile and other numerous projects. At the present time I serve on the Resource Conservation Advisory Council for the Department of Natural Resource and Conservation that administer and distribute grant funds for conservation projects throughout the state. In addition I serve as the Education Chairperson for the Montana State Association of Conservation Districts that directs and promotes the various education programs for all the State Conservation Districts. During my tenure in this position I have demonstrated my ability to work with other local, state and federal agencies whose expertise and resources are indispensable to the District in carrying out its statutory responsibilities. My appointment would ensure continuity on the board and our programs. I feel I am well qualified to serve in the position of"urban supervisor" and at the presem time I have the desire, health and time to devote to this task. My resume is attached and if you need any further information, I would be happy to supply it and I am available for and interview at your discretion. Thank you for your consideration.
