DPW CONFERENCE ROOM
The Tree Board members met with Steve Klotz on May 23'~. Gay Easton and Jennifer
Johnson wea~ corranended on their woflr to make Arbor Day successful.
It was decided to review the ordinance at the next meeting, and also the tree list. New trees
for First Street were discussed. Jennifer announced that the city must have a budget of two
dollars per capita to get the city designated a "Tree City." Steve informed the Board that there
were funds for trees in budgets encompassing parks, cemeteries and streets, but no separate
budget just for trees. This would be in the neighborhood of $13,000 according to the census of
Laurel.
Gay said he would inquire about an intern from the forestry school to help with a tree
inventory, and also at the DNRC.
The meeting adjourned to examine the locust tree behind council chambers. It had responded
to two days ofwater~ after appearing partly dead.
The next meeting will be on June 20~' at 1:30 PM.
