Dear ~ague Members: G ITY 0 V k P~U R
We have enclosed an invoice for your dues for the coming fiscal year with the hope
that you will continue to work through the League of Cities and Towns to improve
municipal government across Montana.
The officers and directors have not increased dues for nine years, and the base rate
continues to be 30 cents per capita, with limits for the largest cities and minimum
payments for the smallest towns.
All of the 129 cities and towns in Montana are currently members, which makes this
one of the few state municipal associations in the country with 100% participation.
We have been pushing toward this goal for many years, and we hope that the work of
the League over the past two years has earned your continued support.
Last year, Montana cities and towns were offered self-funded health insurance
coverage with reduced rates and administrative costs. Currently, more than 60 cities
and towns are participating in this program, and the premium adjustment for the
coming year is under ten percent, which is less than the prevailing rate of medical
inflation. This program will be expanded to include more cities and towns and to
offer group stop loss coverage and other cost saving options for some of the larger
cities that are not currently enrolled.
During the 2007 Legislature, the League will continue to work to protect the
financial stability and management authority of cities, while looking at new and
better ways to advance the interests of municipal government.
We have enclosed salary and utility rate surveys that can be returned by mall or fax,
or completed on our website (www.mlct.org). This information is used widely by
cities and towns to set employee compensation and water and sewer rates, and we
encourage you to complete these surveys !
It has been an honor to work for the cities and towns of Montana again this year. We
rely on your support, appreciate your encouragement and value your friendship.
Best wishes,
Alec Hansen
