COUNCIL CHAMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Chuck Rodgers Lauren Van Roekel Gary Temple Ken Olson Norman Orr Gay Easton Bud Johnson Bill Staudinger OTHERS PRESENT: V. Joe Leckie Larry McCann Mary Embleton Cai Cumin Rick Musson Jim Stevens Jan Faught Lauren Van Roekel stated that he is looking forward to serving on the Laurel City Council. Chief Musson introduced Stanley Langve as the new police officer for the City of Laurel. The hiring process for another police officer will begin this week. The council received the monthly report from Steve Klotz regarffmg code enforcement and building permit activity. Larry McCann anticipates that the work schedule for the year would be available by the next council meeting. Grover Construction sent a letter requesting arbitration on some issues at the Water Plant. Larry and Joe Leckie are working on this. Mary Embleton stated that Y2K is going smoothly and there have been no glitches in the system. The final computer should be arriving soon. Black Mountain SotYvvam will be here on Thursday, January 6®, to install the new hub, to complete the data capture and to configure the last computer that Duke, Andy and Jim will share. The auditor will be here on Friday, January 7th, and the audit is scheduled for the week of January 17~. An extension has been granted for the annual report, and Norm Klein will be hem on Friday with the work he has completed on the report. Fire Chief Jim Stevens reported that the Fire Deparanent responded to 178 runs during 1999. He is currently worl(mg on the statistical report for the Fire Department. Mayor Rodgers mentioned that Judge Kerr would be swearing in the newly elected council members at the beginning of the council meeting.
