HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe White House - CDBGTHE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON May 1, 2006 Dear Mayor Olson: On behalf of the President, thank you for your letter regarding the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and its importance to the City of Laurel. The President appreciates your views and welcomes your suggestions. As you may know, the President's FY 2007 budget proposes to reform the CDBG program to more effectively contribute to local community and economic progress. Formula changes will be proposed to direct more of the program's base funding to communities that cannot meet their own needs. Furthermore, bonus funds will be available to communities that demonstrate the greatest progress in expanding homeownership. Your views on these matters will be shared with the appropriate Administration officials for their benefit and consideration at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Thank you again for writing. If I may be of further assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact my office. Sincerely, Ruben Barrales Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs The Honorable Kenneth E. Olson, Jr. Mayor City of Laurel Post Office Box 10 Laurel, Montana 59044 RB:sb
