RE: June 2006 Budgeting and Accounting Seminar
The Department of Administration, Local Government Services Bureau, will be conducting training
seminars at various locations throughout the State in June. The major portion of the day will be dedicated
tO a hands-on budgeting workshop session designed to give the participants incite as to the framework,
. purpose :and dev~i0pmgnt Of a budget. Other topics will include yeat-~d closing procedures, GASB #34
isiues/c0ncems including the elements of converSion fi-om modified accrual to the full accrual basis of
accounting necessary for GASB #34 reporting. We will also discuss recent statements issued by the
GASB including Statement g40 which deals with deposit and investment risk, Statement No's. 43 and 45
which deal with accounting and Emancial reporting for post employment benefits other than pensions".
We would appreciate it if you would make this seminar irrformation available to other entity officials and
deparlment heads. You are also invited to bring your budgets or anmml'Snancial reports or any other
questions or concerns to the Seminars
A 1/st of seminar locations and dates is attached. Please return the enclosed registration form to the
Helena office by May 26, 2006. Starting time for all seramars will be 8:30 a.m. and we will finish around
