Occupational Safety and Health Training Institute
Enclosed is the Montana Department of Labor and Industry Safety Bureau's
Occupational Safety and Health Training Institute course schedule for 2006. This
booklet lists all the training courses offered with dates and locations. Training includes a
multitude of safety subject areas and will be offered at 10 locations across the state.
The training is offered free of charge. Your costs are your travel expenses.
We urge our members to take advantage of this training, especially the training on
Ergonomics, Workplace Safety Management Systems, and Conducting Effective
Workplace Safety Inspections. Training in these areas should help reduce member
liability and Worker's Compensation claims, which will in turn help reduce member MOD
Factors and your insurance costs.
A registration form is available on line at www.montanasafety.com and in the back of
the booklet.
Another option to receiving this training is to hold your own class in-house on the listed
subjects. This requires a minimum of 12 participants. Safety Bureau personnel can
come to your city on a '~time available" basis. You may investigate this possibility by
calling (406) 444-6401.
In addition, MMIA offers training on a wide array of topics including personnel
management, employee safety, Worker's Compensation, and risk management. Details
regarding these topics are included in the attachment "MMIA 2005 - 2006 Training
Program"inside the booklet. MMIA also encourages you to watch your mailbox for
information on our 2006 Spring Training Seminars to be held at multiple locations
across the State.
