COUNCIL CHAMBERS PRESENT: Perry Asher Steve Klotz Jan Faught Gay Easton Mary Embleton Peggy Amold Scott Wilm No council meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday. Perry authorized the department heads to take time off in the next couple weeks in lieu of the hours spent at the council retreat on Saturday. · Perry thanked Peg for the use of the library facilities for the council retreat. Council Workshop agenda - November 29th: · Gay will present the pot-bellied pig issue. o Sam will advise regarding the legal implications. · Purchasing & Procurement Policy will be on the agenda. · Resolution for non-union compensation adjustment o Perry will check with the mayor regarding this agenda item. · Update on letter regarding the Police Department o The investigation has been completed and an update will be presented at the council workshop. · HOME Program Advisory Board appointments o Mayor will appoint Perry Asher and Robin Herman at the council meeting on December 6th. · BSEDA Nominating Committee appointment o Gay's current appoinmaent expires on December 7th. · Review of draft council agenda for December 6th. o Ordinance No. O05-15 updates the building codes for the City of Laurel. · Discussion regarding an article in today's New York Times regarding Govemor Schweitzer's support of clean fuels from coal. Announcements: · The library will close at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. · A presentation on how to decorate for the holidays is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. tonight at the library. · Discussion regarding the condition of East First Street. o Contractor is supposed to repair the streets for the winter. o Perry will address the situation. · Audit is scheduled for next week, November 28th through December 2na. · The Section 125 signup is scheduled for December 5th, 6th, and 7th. o All employees must either sign up or decline. Department Head M~ting Minutes of November 21, 2005 o o The Colonial representative will be available all three days, and the AFLAC representative will be available on December 6th and 7th. Discussion regarding signup times for the police department, library, shop, water plant, and sewer plant. · Steve stated that the best time for the shop would be on Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m. · Kelly should not schedule any work orders for that morning. · The schedule will be set up this week. · Mary will contact the employees at the plants to arrange the best time.
