EMERGENCY ORDINANCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MCA § 7-5-108,
IMMEDIATELY ADOPTING THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, 2003
EDITION, THE INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE, 2003 EDITION,
THE INTERNATIONAL EXISTING BUILDING CODE, 2003 EDITION, THE
UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE AND THE INTERNATIONAL ENERGY
CONSERVATION CODE, 2003 EDITION, AS IMMEDIATELY EFFECTIVE AND
ENFORCEABLE BY THE CITY OF LAUREL.
WHEREAS, the State of Montana requires the City of Laurel to adopt through Ordinance
mandatory building and/or technical codes the City intends to enforce as its own laws or codes;
and
WHEREAS, the State of Montana also provides a temporary expedited procedure at
MCA {}7-5-108, wherein the City Council can enact an immediately effective Ordinance of
adoption for up to ninety (90) days following its adoption; and
WHEREAS, the City intends to amend Title 15 of the City Code to formally adopt the
above listed Ordinances, however, during the formal amendment process, the City must have the
above Codes legally adopted and effective for enforcement purposes to protect the health, safety
and welfare of the Citizens of Laurel; and
WHEREAS, MCA {}7-5-108, waives the requirement for public notice if an emergency
ordinance is adopted for no longer than ninety (90) days fi:om the date of adoption.
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, that the
following Codes are hereby adopted and immediately effective by the City as follows:
1. INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, 2003 EDITION;
2. INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE, 2003 EDITION;
3. INTERNATIONAL EXISTING BUILDING CODE, 2003 EDITION;
4. UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE; AND
5. INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE, 2003 EDITION.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon adoption and continue until repealed, replaced or until it expires on its own, ninety (90)
days fi:om the date herein adopted.
